We've been thinking about this for quite a while, but here it is: (nearly) all gameplay features that are going to be in our Half-Life 2 mod Short-Circuit.

Teams:
- Attackers:
Have different classes:
+ Demo Soldier: has powerful weapons of destruction, like heavy explosives.
+ Assault Soldier: only class able of handling heavy weapons and heavy armor.
(heavy armor and heavy weapons make the player slower)
+ Soldier: standard soldier.
+ Medic: only class able of healing, can only wear light armor.
+ Squad Captain: only class able of destroying stations (with C4-like bomb). Players in de vicinity of the Captain gain certain combat bonuses.
Attackers always spawn at their starting base.
- Defenders:
Don't have classes, but all team members can buy any piece of equipment for themselves.
Defenders spawn at a random Defence Station.
Stations:
- Attackers: can destroy stations.
- Defenders:
- Start with 1 Defence station where it's also possible to buy basic equipment.
- When taking over a station, they can choose what type of station it will be:
+ Defence: spawn point and healing station. This station automatically gains defence turrets.
+ Research: here you can spend research points to upgrade armor and weapons.
+ Production: here you can buy weapons, ammo, medikits and other equipment.
- Every station has a console with which the player can perform special actions:
+ Research station: upgrade armor or weapons. (team members will vote before the upgrade actually takes place)
+ Production station: buy weapons, ammo, medikits and other equipment.
+ any type of station can be converted (in a certain period of time) to any other type of station.
Resources:
- Attackers:
+ Destroying stations (resources will be split up evenly among team members).
+ Someone who makes a kill will recieve resources for that.
- Defenders:
+ Defence station: generates resources for every team member which can be spent at Production stations.
+ Research station: generates Research points which are necessary for upgrading armor and weapons.
+ Production station: generates Production points which, in combination with ordinary resources, are necessary for making weapons, ammo, medikits and other equipment.
Weapons/Armor:
- Attackers spawn equipment:
Always spawn without armor, and with lowest level of weapons of their class, plus melee weapon. Special classes spawn with:
+ Squad Captain: C4-like bomb to destroy stations with.
+ Medic: small medikit.
- Defenders spawn equipment:
Spawn with armor, and lowest level handgun, plus melee weapon.
- Armor types Attackers:
+ Light Armor:
- Light Laser Armor
- Light Bulletproof Armor
+ Medium Armor:
- Medium Laser Armor
- Medium Bulletproof Armor
+ Heavy Armor:
- Heavy Laser Armor
- Heavy Bulletproof Armor
(more types will be added later)
- Armor types Defenders:
Defenders have 1 type of armor with which they spawn. This armor can be upgraded specifically at a Research station.
Game Modes:
- Normal Teamplay:
+ Attackers' goals: Destroying all stations and eliminating all Defenders.
+ Defenders' goals: Taking over all stations. When all stations are taken over, they must remain in their posession for a certain period of time to win.
- Team survival:
No stations, no respawn. Every player recieves the same amount of points each round to spend on equipment, plus additional points based on their kills/deaths ratio.

This is what we've come up with so far, but we might make a couple of changes along the way, such as balance issues.
