What is Runewatch?
Runewatch is a Single-Player Roguelite First-Person Shooter with Role-Playing Game elements for PC. The player controls an elementalist who makes use of their magic abilities while exploring randomly generated dungeons, defeating enemies, and progressively becoming a master elementalist through exploration, killing, death and repetition.
Since we started the development of the game six months ago, there is already a lot of content. Despite this, it lacks a lot of polish and crucial mechanics for the gameloop, which are the elements that we will mainly focus on in the dev logs.
Dev log #1
In this dev log we will will show some progress on Fire Demon (ignis boss) mechanics, and interectable world objects.
Fire Demon
On the video above, we can see Fire Demon casting his new spell with a pattern. Fire Demon now gets enraged after reaching half of his health, gaining a new mechanic, which is casting three Eruptions (area ignis spell) in a pattern. While channeling, one of the Eruptions will stay in the center, while the others grow in a spiral, making the player have to be extra careful, having to dodge when escaping from the central zone.
Interectable Objects
On the videos below we show our new interectable objects. These objects trigger an action when hit by a spell of certain element or any element depending on the type of object. These vases are breakable, which mean the break when hit by any spell. This action is triggered when the object is directly hit or while inside the radius of an area spell. The vases will stay broken and will only disappear when a new level is loaded.Banners are flammable, and they will burn when hit by an ignis spell. This action is triggered when the object is directly hit or while inside the radius of an area ignis spell.Brazier's fire is extinguishable, meaning the fire will fade when hit by an aqua spell but reignites after a few seconds since it's a magical kind of fire. This action is triggered when the object is directly hit or while inside the radius of an area aqua spell.
Conclusion
We still have a lot of work ahead and we will continue to make updates. Thanks for reading.
