First off, as this is the first news post written for Rouge Threat here on ModDB, let me all thank you for watching us, and especially to BigBird, for transferring control of the mod. The basic outline of Rogue Threat is as follows (Watchers of the mod may want to skip this bit, as it is what is already on the profile);

Half-Life 2: Rogue Threat is a new Total Conversion Mod placing you in the Half-Life world as a Combine Civil Protection Officer. Join Rion Abbott in his extraordinary journey through City 14, abandoned sea beds and the dangerous Xen and Combine dimensions as you uncover the dark intentions of your alien overlords. Rogue Threat will introduce over 11 new weapons, new controllable vehicles, an onslaught of new enemies and many more new features. What we are not doing is making Opposing Force 2; the mod will only briefly touch on events from Half-Life 2, as it is more important to us to create a side story and a fun single player mod, and leave the journey of Gordon Freeman, and the characters he meets to Valve Software.

We are still desperately in need of both Model Animators, and Texture Artists. Those with experience in either of those two fields, you can contact me through the ModDB- Help Wanted feature in RT's profile, or email me at blander9@hotmail.com (A character modeler wouldn't go amiss either)

In the past few weeks, Rogue Threat has come on in leaps and bounds. We have created many preliminary weapon models, drawn some amazing (If I do say so myself) concept art, designed schematics for levels, with playable alpha versions of some maps, and generally smoothed out the storyline to provide a more greater insight into the post Black-Mesa world. Although you haven't seen this yet, the new media and infomation update is coming in the next couple of weeks, and will contain more than some conceptual drawings. I suggest you look forward to it ;)

Also, I can announce a few things Rogue Threat will include:

  • RT will include Multiplayer, however the details and play types are being decided on (You can expect a bog standard Deathmatch at the very least folks :P)
  • RT will have dynamic new HUDs and User Interfaces thanks to our skilled programmers.
  • RT will include an optional built in MP3 Player.
  • RT will include maps focused on more interactive level design and destructible options, our mappers have already show eagerness in this area and are willing to invest the time.
  • RT will include High Definition Range Lighting or a simulated equivalent if we encounter problems getting it to work properly.
