Report on the Paris Game Festival where the CnC SGU's team exhibited the mod from 10th to 12th september.

In February 2010, the CnC SGU team presented the mod at the Scifi Convention in Paris. It was a small event which gathered around 1500 persons and during which the mod turned out to have public
appeal.
#ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;">It was a very interesting first experience to present the project in real life rather than on the internet and to be able to communicate directly with the crowd.

#ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;">Since #ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;">this success, we were all eager to relive a similar experience, but this time, our goal was much greater considering that we were participating in the Paris Game Festival in september, which is one of the greatest European video gaming events.
#ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;">And despite having already presented the project we still were anxious about this new convention for two reasons: The size of the event which is very impressive for the small group of indie developers that we are, and the fact that visitors are not necessarily fans of Stargate.

Stand before the opening

#ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;">In the end it was another great success beyond our expectations. From Friday morning to Sunday evening, we had a great number of visitors and the two PC’s that we set up for playing the beta were occupied almost #ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;">continuously. And even though this convention was more about Video Games than
Science Fiction, we were happily surprised to find a lot of Stargate fans. It is obvious that after the abandonment of Stargate World and the disaster which Stargate Resistance represented, fans are more than eager to see a Stargate game which would finally meet their expectations.

Stand during the convention

#ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;">The convention was also a #ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;">very rewarding experience since we were able to measure the impact of our mod on a greater audience, and to get a lot of feedback which will help us with the development. We also managed to spread the existence of the mod to a lot of people, seeing as how we distributed about 400 business cards and saw a 12% growth of the number of fans on our Facebook page in no more than 3 days. We’ve also met numerous figures of the video games sector such as #ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;">school administrators, event organizers, dedicated sites editors and of course journalists. We’re not yet capable of telling how many benefits this might bring us, but you can certainly expect to see
more people joining the team, as well as some partners which might support us and undoubtedly more announcements concerning other video games or science fictions events we’ll be taking part in.

#ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;">People were still numerous to give us #ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;">feedback, good or bad, as well as to congratulate us on the work that we accomplished. We’d want to thank everyone who came to see us on site but also all those who are following and supporting us on the internet. You truly are our main source of motivation, and thanks to your feedback we will be able to polish the mod even more.

#ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;">The members of the Video Games Festival’s organization also deserve our praise for their sympathy and the quality of their services. #ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;">Finally I would also like to thank all my team for following me in this crazy adventure and working tirelessly with me in a friendly yet professional atmosphere:

  • #ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;">Fëawen (2D#ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;"> artist and video editor)
  • #ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;">Tonyo #ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;">(2D/3D artist)
  • #ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;">Xuarig (3D artist)
  • #ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;">Kam (#ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;">Communication manager)
  • #ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;">Colonel (#ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;">Experienced modder)
  • #ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;">Argetlam (English translator)
  • #ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;">Horus (Mapper)

#ffffff none repeat scroll 0% 0%;">Apart from that, we’d also like to inform you that we will soon upload the new beta that was presented on the Paris Game Festival, and that it will come with an English translation this time.
