Make sure you grab the Public beta, remember:
It's a beta, some tuning and polishing needs still to be done. The car models are test models and not the final cars. 2 maps are currently in game, one early beta.
But you can race, you can shoot, you can slide, see the grass coming from your wheels!
Make sure you grab it and give us feedback.
Well, grabbed the demo, I liked the look of everything except that there are a couple major issues you need to fix.
1. You shouldn't have to go to your website to find out how to run the darn thing.
2. When I actually DID figure out how to run it properly, the camera kept looking at the ceiling. Couldn't see anything even if my character was outside the car.
So put a readme explaining that there's a shortcut in the system folder, and fix the weird camera thing.
getting now.
How do I make it run, I keep getting a index.ut2 error xD
OK got it working, you should make it so a shortcut is made with the shortcut on.
Ok.
Reflection is OTT (its not proper reflection either).
The handling is crazy
The hud needs redoing
The maps seem overly big and undetailed, bland.
However, for an alpha its good, beta = lose.
Sorry for the troubles if I had known beter we would have called it an alpha, Its the first we ever made or worked on.
The camera kept looking at the ceiling solution:
In the Game settings under Input Uncheck Jostick Enable
The problem is that we uses our own ini files so that can give some problems.
We published this Beta to find Out what sort of problems we could encounter and then fix them. maybe a little bit to soon.
tnx for the reply azz0r on The shortcut Issue.
Sorry, the the INI and shortcut stuff is unfortunate, i will fix this asap.
About the number, well I guess we all are fighting about alpha or beta again, seems a bit pointless IMHO.
This is a beta for testing installer and coding. The RC1 will have its own graphics for the HUD etc. These are minor additions too a working code base.
I now have a good idea about the installer issues, ini's and shortcut give many problems. The control is something that every person will feel differently about, but please specify what you dont like about it. Please remember also that the control is designed too be done by joysticks, gamepads and racing wheels, the keyboard is in any racing game a pain in the but, but good ideas are always welcome.
I found a way too make a shortcut based on your selected folder, in the start menu.
So the next version will no longer have that problem
I will also watch the ini stuff
I fixed the Toyota from rolling over so thats ok in the next version also.
I hope this gives you all some hope again.
Ok, joystick turned off and it fixed the other problem I had.
It looks pretty good so far. azz0r's right, the steering physics are a bit weird... Everytime I turn a corner I flip, and I don't know what my use key is so I have to press tab and type use every time. I love the green level, going off bumps and flying then hitting stuff and rolling... So fun. Can wait for you guys to make this better. I'm adding to my modWatch.
You can bind your key in the normal UT key bind screen.
In the ini supplied its the U
The handlings just abit flippy, understandable for the f1 car because it goes so fast.
BTW, you may want to add or remove particle effects depending on the surface. I keep getting mud flying about on a tarmac surface...
Its early so its understandable ;)
mappers issue ;)
many textures are set too default material, the default generates small stones and black clouds.
The mapper needs too tune this up a bit, and request some new settings if no good ones are in, i wrote that feature sunday afternoon a couple of hours before release too kill some time.
