An early look at the mod's rendition of the capital of the French Empire.

Posted by on

'Lo,

Today we'll be taking a look at the Paris scene from the mod. This is one of the largest and most complex scenes in the mod (and I suspect it rivals the most complex from any Warband mod). Though it's not entirely finished and fully populated with props and buildings, I think it's well worth seeing at this point.

It's centred in the Place du Carrousel, where you'll see the Palais de Tuileries, one of the oldest and most important palaces in France and the chief Imperial Palace of Napoleon's. South of the Tuileries is the old Pavillon de Flore, where the Louvre's grand gallery is held. North is the Pavillon Marsen, which was still under construction in 1809. Both Pavillons have since been heavily remodelled and now bare little resemblance to their Napoleonic era selves. The Tuileries itself was burned down by anarchists in 1871 during the chaos that engulfed France at the collapse of the Second Empire. The fire-gutted skeleton remained for 12 years before it was finally torn down.

The only structure in the scene that still remains unchanged (save for the remaking of the technically stolen quadriga in 1815) is the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, the smaller cousin of the more famous Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile.

Again, do bear in mind this is a work in progress.

That's all for now. Enjoy.

As always, thanks for reading and showing your support for the mod.

I rarely log in to Moddb anymore, but after seeing these spectacular images I couldn't help but join in and say "wow." The attention to detail is far more ambitious than any M&B mod ever.

What do you mean with: "It's not finished yet" ? I'm already thrilled with these pictures and can't think of anything else to add. Does the palace(1st picture) have 3 walk-able storages as you can see from the outside?
