Yup, you read the title correctly; today we are proud to present a new version of the C&C Stragate Universe mod, along with a teaser. For those who think that they already saw all of this at the Paris Game Festival, know that the video has a bonus scene, and that the beta has seen some important optimizations.
What’s new in this version?
Well, first of all we have balanced the sides in order to make the Goa’uld move powerful and lessen the power of the Tau’ri nuclear arsenal. Motherships are now more expensive, take more time to be created, but are also much more resistant.
There’s also a good amount of new content such as the Library of the Ancients, new 3D models, new keyboard shortcuts and of course a fully working English version of all the ingame strings. Many bugs have also been fixed such as connection mismatches and display errors.
A full list of the changes can be found in the “CnCSGU_ReadMe.txt” file (which is located in the installation directory)
However, the campaigns aren’t still available in this early beta, but the user interface has been redesigned from scratch and we will shortly start working on a tutorial mission to give you a preview of what the campaign might look like. If you have watched the trailer, you might have noticed the apparition of some new civilizations, but bear in mind that they still aren’t playable sides and that they will likely be available in one of the next updates.
It’s difficult to give you a release date for the final version with Tau'ri and Goa'uld, but you shouldn’t expect it to be out before 2011. There will certainly be a beta or two before that. We will keep you informed about the project’s progress.
The release planning is as follows:
- V1: Tau'ri, Goa'uld (final in 2011)
- V2: + Asgard, Replicators (beta 2011)
- V3: + Ancients, Wraith, Ori
Good viewing and good game!
