Over a year ago, I asked a vital question: Why isn't there any necromancy in Morrowind? I got many answers about how Necromancia was going to add it; however, I noticed the website hadn't been updated in a good month. Being new to modding, I decided to try and at least make a basic necromancy mod... And got addicted to the project. Now, over a year later, we have many new and unique features like the ability to resurrect dead npcs (not just misc items). We've been featured at the Summit as news.
So what? What does this mod really add? Well, necromancy. And we aren't just cheesing out, adding a bunch of guts and calling it necromancy, nor are we adding a simple, basic resurrection system. We are adding a full necromancy system based and evolved off the pre-existing lore on the subject from Daggerfall and Morrowind. We're adding the laws, the minor details that make mods great. You'll learn how to punish your foes with mysterious illnesses, as hinted at in various MW books. You'll learn to keep yourself secret, at the risk of getting caught.. You'll learn mysterious rituals, and the price of necromancy... As I said, you aren't learning that having two bonemeal portions, one daedra heart, a skeleton, and activating an altar makes a minion; you're discovering that you have to learn to follow the ritual correctly, or end up with no results.
Now for the new news (what a weird sentence!):
-Sadly, cuneo went down... And all of our pictures with it. I have to get a few pics and find an image host, but after that, you'll have some eye-candy... Though there isn't a ton, as its more a natural evolvement of Morrowind's spell system, with a few odd rituals.
-A virus wiped out my C: drive. However, I had 90% of the meshes and the latest bits of the mod on disk. So no real setback.
-Raijin has retired from modding, though he may or may not come back to work more on this project.
-The mod is fairly close to release, and we have done yet another internal beta. A few bugs must be fixed, a few things added, and we'll be done. However, we need help, so check out the help wanted section.
-Torgulf is kindly hosting the forums at www.forumer.com/torgulf,, under the board NecroRise. Many of you never got the memo. I encourage you to check the forums out, you may learn about some mod secrets there.
-The website will be moving to brimd, very soon. For now, we're just hosting a file there, but I'm designing a webpage for brimd.
