Time for this weeks latest mod news from around the internet:

Mod DB Stuff

  • I'd like to welcome the Art Institute Online as our new sponsor. They will be supporting our tutorial section so expect to see fresh new syndicated content and other exciting promotions in the coming months as we work with them, to help you mod!
  • Speaking of tutorials, if you rate your skills and consider yourself a teacher - remember you can submit tutorials and share your talents with our community!

Other Stuff

[*]Second Life recently opened its source code to modders, so we've added Second Life to our site for those interested.
  • Shacknews recently ran a story unearthed by modders which suggests the game STALKER used texture assets from HL2 and Doom3 without Valves and ID's permission. *UPDATE - It appears these textures were not stolen, see the updated story here.
  • Ascaron Entertainment has released the modding tools for Darkstar One, offering the opportunity to create custom content for the space combat game.

ACTUALLY, the textures came from the texture pack. The Implight texture means "Impact light".

Dragonball Source (for HL2) also released on the 14th of this month ;) would be kewl to have that in the mod news roundup, because it's our first release and thefirst mirror for it was on moddb ;) already got over 1k downloads here as well, and over 5k in other places, and thats not counting mirrors that don't report how much has been downloaded. so if that many are downloading it after a few days, surely it's mod roundup worthy ;)

As I expected that entire texture story had not been that much of a fuzz in the end. Did not think about commercial texture packs in the first place but that definitely is a legit source.

The lightimages didn't come from a texture pack. Kenneth Scott made them.

The Inquirer is just a stupid source concluding off of speculating forum posts.

The mod news roundup does not normally include released mods. However the newsletter which gets sent out monthly (see example here: Moddb.com ) does include released mods. Maybe DBZ will be this months featured mod.

If you and your fans would like to sign up to the newsletter, they can do so on Moddb.com (top left menu)

Actually the textures were stolen. They only pointed out the single water texture.
