While I (Jeb_) was away at Game Developer's Conference and a short vacation, the new Minecraft members Dinnerbone, Tahg, Grum and EvilSeph were hard at work fixing multiple bugs in Minecraft 1.2. The patch contains mainly bug fixes, but we also threw in a couple of goodies:
Chat history
Much better chat editing and controls (you can even mark text!)
Some new decoration blocks
The client should be updated in the launcher, where you also can see the full change list. You can find the launcher and server binaries for Minecraft here: Minecraft.net
Since we are still developing Minecraft – Xbox 360 Edition (check below for a preview – the progress is going fine, release date coming soon!) we thought that these may help still your abstinence for your avatar needs :)

sorry about the lateness of the Xbox items. I've sorta slacked a little since the big 1.2 update. gonna be more vigilant in future!
Funny how the avatar accessory has Steve's Alpha skin instead of the Beta/release one.
Not that I mind though, in fact I prefer the Alpha one over what we have now.

Any chance PC will ever get splitscreen?
i doubt it will due to the need for a second mouse and keyboard (for splitscreen)
You know what I would like to see? You know how in the new game menu, you can choose the flatgrass world? Well if they added an option to generate a world similar to BETA 1.3, with the green grass, and no other biomes other than beaches and the forest with hills... ah the good ol' days!
