Two more Max Payne 1 level (section) remakes: Aesir Security & Punchinello Manor.

Posted by on

Max Payne 2: Old School Remix, which builds on the idea of replicating the first game's atmosphere on the second game's engine, is updated with two more DMW levels which are remakes from Max Payne 1 (the first two being Cold Steel & Ragnarock Entrance).

UPDATE 04/25/2020: All the classic levels can now be downloaded as a separate pack.

Punchinello Manor - Most of the interior can be blown to pieces, good time with M79 Grenade Launcher.

Aesir Security - Steel and glass, no escape.

Never used 3dsmax for anything. All the remake levels are handmade in MaxEd2, which would of course take less time if one had access to original level files (then you would only add the physical objects, enemies and HD textures basically). Maybe 50 hours of work per level, a little more with the Manor.

Could you be more specific? These levels are special because no one ever made them before and we only got the fan-made HD textures in 2019. Not to mention there will likely be an official Max Payne remake in say 5 years from now with an actual budget and modern game engine.

Well, I meant, to make not the UHF option but the storyline, otherwise the MP2, is not my favorite gameplay in MP2. But already subjectivity. Regarding whether there will be an official remake, it sounds too fantastic, from time to time I return to my old developments, but so far I can not deal with them more significantly.

In any case, I am glad that MP2 modding is still alive, and I hope for more projects. Good luck.

Improving on previous work vs creating something new are sort of two different routes, especially as the latter requires some real imagination :D

They (R*) can release Max Payne HD with MP3 engine when they think there is enough market for it, but it's only worth it for fans if it retains the spirit of original.
