Post news RSS Map Update #1: Saleucami

Get a close look at Saleucami, one of many new maps in Battlefront Chronicles.

As the various maps in Battlefront Chronicles come close to completion, I'll be posting news articles to give each map a moment in the spotlight and provide everyone with close-up views. The map featured in this article is Saleucami. Star Wars fans will recognize Saleucami as a world that appeared for just a few seconds during the Order 66 sequence in Revenge of the Sith. Despite its very brief appearance, I've always found Saleucami to be an interesting location, and I was disappointed when it wasn't included in the stock maps of Battlefront II.

Saleucami is an arid world dotted by small oases that support plant growth. Its most prominent features are the large bulb plants that sprout out of the rocky ground. Geothermal vents are also scattered around the terrain. During the Clone Wars, Saleucami was controlled by the Confederacy of Independent Systems. As such, it became a target of the Republic during the Outer Rim Sieges. The landscape became littered with the debris of destroyed vehicles and the corpses of fallen soldiers. Check out the screenshots below to see this setting recreated in-game:

This is a medium-large sized map, allowing for a good mix of infantry and vehicle combat. Players can run and gun on foot, plow through their enemies with an AT-AP or tank droid, or race from one end of the map to the other with a speeder bike. The map is situated around two oases, resulting in a rough figure-eight layout. Units will tend to skirt around the edges of the water, although they can cut through it if necessary.

That concludes this look at Saleucami. More map updates will be coming soon!
