Since no one else is getting around to skinning, I just made my first attempt at UVW mapping and skinning a model, the M4A3. I personally think the skin looks corny, but its the best I could gather from my only image of it (the movie always shows it too dark). I was forced to look at a model from www.alien-resurrection.com for the shape and skinning work, and their models are very low poly with very corny low res skins ;).
