Hello, IndieDB community!

Welcome to the introduction of our new cozy, narrative driven 3D game Little Walks!

Our protagonist is a little dog that is going on little walks with his owner, an university student that is going through difficult times in life. You will hear her problems and give her company while looking ond the forest for lost objects.

Our main inspiration is Lieve Oma. So this will be an isometric game where you just follow the owner and the story advances when she speaks to you while walking.

However at some point the owner will stop and ask you to look for a lost object on a highlighted area of the forest. You will see the dog's behavior to determine that you are close to an object and try to dig there.

When using the dig input, a little digging quicktime event will start. If you press the input again in the correct timing (when the circle is full) the dog will dig, if not, then you just need to try it again.

The main inspiration for these quicktime events is The Stillness of the Wind, also a 3D cozy isometric game that uses this mechanic for actions like harvesting.

If where you dug was the correct place of the lost object, then a dig minigame to found the object will start.

There will be some layers of dirte that you will take to the side one by one, and when the object is completely visible, the minigame will finish and you will have the object and you could give it to the owner.

This minigame was though just to make the game a little bit more fun, rather than just walking. It was inspired by the similar excavating minigame in the underground of Pokemon Platinum.

As for the art we have decided to go for a cartoonish, low-poly style with pastel colors. But we will talk more about this section later.

We have spent the first weeks of development thinking about the mechanics, prototyping them and doing the first studies of the art of the game.

We will keep delivering weekly updates starting today.

Have a nice week!
