Atm I'm trying to find a way to make an Alternative Link on Apona with some heavy cav. Stay tuned for updates. Tho if any advice can be given to how to replace the mesh so that he's actually sitting on the horse instead of running on top of it would be awesome :D.

You don't need to change the mesh, you just need the model's battle_models.modeldb entry to have a horse rider animation.
