Building on last month's success and feedback from the community Exterminatus has made some great bounds forward in 2007. Since last month we've shrunk down the imperial HUD to make it less obtrusive, built in a class selection menu, 6 new playable classes (3 of each team) and all their weapons. In fact we've added so much stuff into EX this month your heads would probably explode if we included it all into one news post. So this month were focusing on probably the most fun of our new weapons, the melta gun.
This is the main weapon of the imperial weapons specialist class. Over the millennia and light years of that the Imperium spans the melta gun has worked in many ways, from a type of suped up flame thrower, using exotic fuels to microwave projector and even a fusion reactor. However it works, it's super hot, directing a fierce beam of heat over a short range, melting though armor, igniting flammables and burning flesh.
In case you're getting the feeling things are all going the imperial way here's a tyranid taster of what's waiting in the shadows, the stealthy Lictor class.
In reply to last month's call for a Sound Effects engineer Grandmaster B of the Vancouver Film School has started work on some much needed custom sounds for Exterminatus. Animators are still very much in-demand here. Big thanks to the alpha testers who have been regularly beaten, slashed, sawn, catapulted, shot, melted, set alight, blown up and generally inconvenienced. We still have a way to go and things to add and improve, before we go public, but things are going well for Exterminatus in 2007.
it will get finished, were compulsive obsessve like that.
when it gets finished is the better question, time is as always passing.
i'm looking foward to this also...40k based mods really excite me i just hope this one gets finished as many don't
Wow I am surprised there are no comments, great work guys, the mod is looking great!
Nice work :)
freaking nice but if you look at the dead space marine there is a human hand and not a glove is that a bug or something ?
Very, very nice. But please tell me that the map you are using in those screens isn't finished yet!
The dead guys are Imperial guard (as included in our MDK), rather than actual space marines. Our Space marines are still in the process of being animated, so were using guards at the moment (which re-use valves animations).
The map in these screenshots is an early version of one of our test maps and should not be taken as representative of the quality of our final map or maps. I've discussed the map in a bit more detail on the the EX forum if you're interested.
