This week in "Kurofune: Descobrimos Portugueses", learn how to fight with pirates and natives, the repercussions of such and how it affects other variables.

Hello everyone, welcome to another weekly DevLog from 3PAStudios, and to address a pretty big change on our game, the name of our game now it's Kurofune: Descobrimentos Portugueses. We made this change in order to gain a bigger international following and to have a main name that people could easily address our game.

Kurofune is a Japanese name given to the traditional Portuguese boats that first arrive to Japan, meaning black boats. This name was voted in our social medias, be sure to follow our twitter page and instagram page if you want a chance to take part in the development of our game.

Combat

There are two types of combat, the ship encounter, where both boats battle with the ship's cannons until one of the boats is disabled. The other type is the melee combat, where the player will fight pirates or natives alongside with his crew.

The player can chose the amount of crew members to fight alongside him making the combat easier with more allies on his side, while on the other side, if they die in combat they die for real and won't come back to the boat.

Reputation

The reputation system is mainly a feedback system related to the combat that the player has during the game, this being, if he fights pirates, the pirates being known as evil persons on the sea, the player will get good reputation, affecting the trade systems around him, the people will be more inclined to trade with the player and at better prices than before.

On the other side, if the player chooses to attack natives on islands and costal cities, he will accumulate negative reputation, making his trades more expensive for the player, and in some extreme cases, natives might even refuse to trade with the player or fight him at first sight.

Conclusion:

Combat, although the player can do his best to avoid it, it's also one way to obtain resources, but always at an expense. Better be careful how you approach such encounters because although it may appear there is only benefits in the short term, in the long run that may be different.
