JEDI FIGHTER will continue to be improved until the v1.0 release near June, 2016, with a beta 3 in the next two months.

Beta 3 will focus on a few key areas:

Thanks for the feedback. Do you mean customization where you add your own moves and styles to make a fighter?

I think more like evry character in those fighting games has his own moveset.
For one handed swords, there are the 3 fighing styles. For more characters however it will require new animations, which will take time.

A special 5-8 button move for each characters like a powerful Force Lightning from a Sith Lord or Summons the Death Star to crash into the stage for no contest. A secret move, for fun. Luke calling up his buddy in his B-Wing to blast a certain area. "Hobby you read me?!" Pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew!! Darth Maul using a discipline for extra damage. Darth Vader: "Take this!" *Storm troopers in formation run up and open fire*

Haha, I like those ideas. I have some ultra moves planned for sure... :)

I think you're right. Originally I wanted only 8 characters because of the limited number of animations in Jedi Academy. I ended up using 10 arbitrarily and will probably revisit the number by the next release.

I'm working on a way to do more unique moves so there is less overlap between characters for the next version.

I PM'ed you about this. The AI is doing that because I haven't placed botroutes in the map. Believe it or not, I'm not a great mapper, but I'll look into making some proper functional routes before beta 3.

Thanks for the input.

congratz on releasing beta, i know its been a long time

one question: will there be both premade fighter characters,
and the default pick your model/saber colour/abilities kind of stuff?

That's an interesting suggestion.

My initial vision was for server operators to make their own characters. They're all defined in text files in the .\fighters\ directory, down to the sabers, moves, combos, etc. So imagine connecting to a server and having a new set of fighters to play with.

For the client to customize his character, I'm not sure I'll have time. It shouldn't be as difficult as I thought it would be initially. Some fighting games (like Last Blade) let you choose a character and then a speed or power variant. I could do the equivalent by letting you pick sabers after the character.

The implementation would modify the .fighter files to lost more sabers, and I could do something as simple as looking for any saber that has the saber fields as prefixes and available sabers for that fighter. Then, after you pick your fighter, it would display models and details for the sabers.

Let me think about it. The AI and some polish are top priority but enough people have asked about customization from the client side that I have to consider it.

Could you put your suggestion into the forums?

Thanks for the feedback!

thank you for answering on comments
it is just something i was wondering, from seing this mod a fiew years back (literaly stormtrooper fighters sabers ect.)

-don't consider it a vital thing, though. Customize figter sounds fun, but every fighting game fan knows its all about the pre-made characters on the roster.
So like if you had to choose betwen working on customization and different katas for combatants for example, id go with 2nd

Will visit the forums
