After HTC announced the Vive Consumer Edition's $799 price, the company also revealed the headset's estimated system requirements. Tucked away on the official website is this page which recommends the following PC specs:
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 / AMD Radeon R9 290 equivalent or greater
- CPU: Intel i5-4590 / AMD FX 8350 equivalent or greater
- RAM: 4GB+
- Video Output: HDMI 1.4 or DisplayPort 1.2 or newer
- USB Port: 1x USB 2.0 or greater port
- Operating System: Windows 7 SP1 or newer
Much like Oculus, HTC has also partnered with a number of hardware manufacturers to create some officially-recognised "Vive-optimised" PC builds. However, unlike Oculus, HTC is not offering a hardware bundle that includes the PC and the Vive Consumer Edition headset; all Vive-ready PCs are sold separately. The systems include the HP Envy Phoenix, the Alienware Area 51, and the MSI GT72/GT80 notebooks.
Kinda unexpected that this will cost more than the oculus. By 200$ o.O
It also got me by surprise- but if I had to pick between the two, I'd go with the Vive. It seems to be giving consumers the ultimate VR experience.
