Ok, so i have come to the realization that i can not do all this alone with me being in school, and working full time.

So now after talking to the other member of this team, I have decided to expand to include another person. I wish to find a mapper, I know its the easiest part of it all but it would help out tremendously. I do not care if you are just starting out in mapping or are experienced, I am willing to give anyone a shot.

In need of a mapper

Things are progressing slowly, I am working on the coding right now for switching the camera to something other than first person. Rick is hard at work making the new models for the game. Other than the mapping everything is moving forward. I hope to have more screenshots and other information for you all in the next week. For right now though, there is a lack of things to update on.

your the only mod that's considered a third person version of a resident evil mod i'd like to see that made into reality.

it just isn't the same in first person lol

believe me i understand, i have got the code to where i want it just having a location issue with some of it. I have a good idea of what i want this game to have in it, just have to get it all done

i hope it goes over well.

you could create a small room using developer textures and such to test out features and such that helps out a bit.

but don't give up on this mod because of the communities negative attitude about the progress that has been displayed concerning this mod.

but you might have to post some custom content or a sign of progress to get some positive feed back to keep up your moral about this as well.

do some research on mapping on the valve developer community wiki as well as any other things you might want to know about or need help with.

trust me though modeling for source is more of a pain then mapping so you should get the hang of using hammer and try and figure out how to add entities once you get the hang of that its just a matter of how good you are at constructing and detailing things.

i have the basic concept for mapping, i run into problems with doing large open areas. i think i may know what i am doing wrong with it. i have an idea of what i am doing wrong and will attempt to try and fix it. i understand that there is a negative look at this with all the other mods out there but i want this to be different than them, more like resident evil 4 style game play.

well large open areas do need a certain amount of special care and attention payed to them.

but considering resident evil games are all set in closed streets, dark alleys and small to mid sized rooms you might just need to keep to that basic principle of enclosed areas to make the zombies seem more threatening.

so larger areas shouldn't be much of a problem if any at all.

being a resident evil fan i am sure you have already but you should play resident evil 1 to 3 for the sake of inspiration. (far as i am concerned those games are the best and the true resident evil's)

but don't spend all of your time playing games obviously lol just get the idea of what the original makers of resident evil wanted in the game.

make sure to note your situation as you play a long and the issues at hand your confronted with if you can get this down creating a map will be no problem.

but if you can show off some of your scripts and codes for this mod i am sure you can attract some helpers with more experience then you or i.

if any open areas you should make them a little more difficult then other areas the first time you go through them.

i would like to keep it more toward the first 3 but i want to have more of a style close to 4. there are going to be zombies, and some other creatures. but trying to base it on the books, 2 and 4 i think, there is very few zombies and more of just story line in it. part of which is a car chase which i was going to start out with, but im having the issues with the large open area thing soo, i may alter what i start out with and just focus more on the facility i have imagined.

sounds good to me.

keep up with the work as soon as people see this mod is going somewhere i am sure there will people that want to help out even more.
