Hi everyone; so it seems that I've hit a colossal snag. The patch to the Steam version of Company of Heroes as far as us modders know at the moment breaks any modification with custom factions.
I will continue to do work on the modification in the short term, but I am afraid there is no point in me releasing anything for Christmas; because it doesn't work now.
I'm very sorry to everyone that was eagerly awaiting this; but at the moment there is nothing I can do about it. I have spoken with other individuals from other teams and at this moment there doesn't seem to be a work around. If there is, I will surely implement it and then release what I have finished as a patch to help stem my inability to give you a Christmas release.
Having said this; I would like to point out that I have recently decided to start making civilization modifications for Civilization 5.
My first modification will be the introduction of the Principality of Gallia, ruled by Archduchess Cordelia of Randgriz. This is a completely fictional faction, based off the series Valkyria Chronicles.
I intend to make more civilizations based on this universe, and then I will most likely move on to more plausible civilizations, or more fictional ones. As far as I'm concerned I'll take requests on this after I have completed the first civilization, because they aren't hard to do.
Please note that this will not contain custom models; as I do not have anyone willing to make them. It will contain custom icons, music, background pictures and text however which all fit the lore of what I am trying to achieve. This setup will be for all modifications I do for Civilization 5.
So while I'm sorry I can't do anything for CoH this christmas that anyone else can play, I hope that someone enjoys Valkyria Chronicles, or at least another faction to play on it and will enjoy that over the holidays.

I think you guys should appeal to Relic on putting out a fix. That's a pretty severe blow to the modding community.
What about the retail version? Wouldn't you have to manually install updates? So you'd only install the update that you are modding to, for us to play your mod... while you work on the steam version mod or fix. ;)
The thing is that the retail version isn't compatible anymore because I redid the fix for the steam version. I highly doubt relic would appeal this fix because it's the only way they can get their leaderboarda on steam to work.
I won't undo the changes for the retail version, it's excessive.
So for now I will work on Civ5.
I'm sorry but I still have the non-steam patch because I knew the moment that COH went to steam, that this would happen. Nearly every game on steam has had a patch or two that breaks the mods for the game and not just one mod all of them usually die, until a new patch comes out.
I'll stick with playing classic mods on the classic patch, no multi-player but I like skirmish more anyway.
If there is no fix; I will revert the changes made so people with the regular addition can play it. For the moment; I will take a break.
Thank you for the update... It's nice to know what's going on...
I figured this would affect the mods :/ They took so long to release a fix for the broken Steam version, and when they did, they broke the elements of the game that I actually enjoyed (I was never a big fan of the white grenadiers and boxing tanks...). I don't know how many people still play Vanilla, but for me and my circles that still play CoH, it was the mods (especially this one) that kept us in the game.
I guess I'll take a break from CoH as well - until someone figures a way around this... Thanks Sega... For once, it would have been better if you'd let things stay broken...
