A ModDB exclusive
Fancy yourself a good reader? Because the Void team needs your help. We have our own font, something to use on sign posts, documents and other ingame stuff but we don't know how easy it is to read. If your up for a challenge then translate the above text and post it under comments, first person to post a complete translation will get a cookie! Obviously if everyone has too much difficulty reading this we'll probably go with a simpler font, but this text has been done in plain English - so with a little work anyone should be able to read it...
Also, Mirrored has been hard at work producing an early version of the Void’s very own theme music!. Be sure to check it out, we hope to have a melody for each of the main characters within the game and then create music which combines different character’s melodies in order to show their interaction and emotions. If we succeed it should feel more like watching a film than listening to the same ambient tracks over and over again.
As if that wasn't enough - MiideraSect has also been hard at work creating three new concept images! Enjoy.
Its just like anything else you do, once you read a few pages it gets easier and easier to read
I thought it was a bit hard to read, especially when your ingame you don't want to keep stopping just to read a sign.
However you might do as they did in Morrowind, when you put your cursor/crosshair on it you see what it says in a little balloon next to the cursor/crosshair. Then you can read it normally if you want or use the balloon for fast reading.
@ Arketype - Yeah, if it's possible we'll probably include a few optional plug-ins with the Void's main file, one which activates this font and one which activates a plain english version. Although we may not be able to do the same with signposts and such we may be able to have hints pop-up to tell you what they say.
while im no pro (i dont even have oblivion yet! :\) i could read some of it, but some characters allude me lol. i'm not sure how much work you feel SHOULD be put into reading this, but it took me at least 2 minutes to figure out the 2nd and 3rd lines from the left (well, MOST of the third line) as well as the writing in red in the first line :p but i DID hafta get out a notepad and write down the letters just to keep track of what i knew lol.
i hope this was SOME help to you guys! keep up the good work, it looks like it's coming along well!
Ok here is what i think it says starting from top right going down each column
If you are reading this you are
proving that we can use
this font for most of
the text elements within
the void world
By looking carefully you
should be able to recognise
words
Plus this sort or writing will
give the player a real task to do
However we will probably
provide a version which is
easier to read
Challenge 1 VOID MASTER
Proves you should always read through your comments before posting
Got the spelling and right words this time

And then on the left it says: "Challenge" and "Void Master"
:)
oh crap i didnt see that someone already did it...nevermind me haha.
Great stuff but you were just a shade too late Jasau1974! Someone else already replied onto the Void's profile, but thanks for taking part. You can have a cookie for trying anyways! :)
Did you find it difficult or easy? It would be really helpful to know, we don't want it being a half hour task just to read a note. But we want it to become a challenge, almost an art which will reward the player for investing time.
Aw, lol thought i was first :(
Heh I guess it would be easier to read if it wasn´t top down. It does seem readable, though I couldn´t really keep at it.
ok I´ll try again:

Puuh guys, this is already nice, you bastards.(figured out where the text starts) :D
I think it depends on your target audience, a real roleplayer will have fun learning to read it, and appreciate the immersion.
However it´d take quite while to read fluently. (though it started to become clearer after the five minutes I spend with it)
This is nice and looks very strange and foreign, but some letters could be tweaked still maybe. I found myself mistaking the H for an a pretty often, and the L is too pretty close to an a (took a while to get the L is an L).
I like it and I think you should stick with it for the originality :D
Cookie plz :P
This is really nice, but it is a little hard to read for the casual gamer. However, if that isn't who you are catering for, then screw the casual gamer and chuck this in. It is kinda cool.
Hopefully a bit of both right?
My thinking is that it won't be entirely vital for the player to read reams of this font in order to make their way through the story, but lots of plot points and perhaps hidden areas/weapons/information will be made avaliable through documents like this. So we won't be trying to put off casual gamers, thats always a worrying philosophy, but we will be trying to reward those who take the time and effort to learn.
In that case, using it to reward the patient player, that´s a real good thing :)
The most annoying letter in that thing has to be F. I just keep reading it as T. In fact, it could make sense to switch the current T and F symbols.
Either way, it's readable. It does take a litte effort to read it, and you might as well miss it if it's used somewhere in the background, thinking it's not a real text, but you can very much read it without having to spend 40 hours analysing the shapes.
And it's easier than the non-decoded strogg alphabet from Quake 4 :P
I couldn't read it at all, but that's just me ;)
If there is an easier version maybe use that? Otherwise, screw me, the rest of these guys seem to be able to read it. And it does look damn cool :)
Oh and I love the theme... definitely puts Oblivion and the Void together in a nice musical mixing pot :D
I'm going to see if I can get some ambient Oriental music going for you. Perhaps a variation on that theme too.
kinda hard. it looks good yes, but at least have an easyer version or somthing.
I could read it with a little effort. I mean, it's not supposed to be THAT easy to read, is it?
Story of my life being a shade too late!!! :-)
Once i'd figured out which way round the text was going took about 5 minutes to read. Did neeed to write it down though.
I agree with dar_ about the T's and F's
I'm not sure it'd add all that much to the value of your mod to have text this difficult to read. If I were you I'd probably include this font and another very simpe/standard font, and make it an obvious option to swap between the two. Thus players who feel it adds to immersion can enjoy it, but there's no penalty for players who don't like spending the extra time. Legibility aside, it is a good looking font. ;)
I like it could be use as a code didnt take me long to clock how to read it but if your surfing it will just look like gob l d **** it will be great in a game :)
Hard to get at first, but it's amazing, KEEP IT!!!!!!!! =D
