'Lo,
First of, I must thank all of you for voting L'Aigle into the Mod of the Year Top 100 as the only Warband mod represented. It's really quite the honour. Remember to vote again if you haven't already. Let's make it to the Top 10 (or better)!
To celebrate our having reached the Top 100, I've put together and will now show you the first ever ingame trailer. The trailer features a battle fought between the French and Austrians, based roughly around the 1809 Battle of Wagram.
A few things to note first:
-Everything you see if very much a work in progress and just about everything could (and much will) change or be improved.
-It's not HD as recording a video is very system intensive, especially considering the laptop I recorded on is not that fast and the mod is yet to be properly optimised.
-There are slow downs in the video for the reasons above. The graphics in the video are not maxed out for the same.
-The camera controls aren't great in Warband and I ain't Kubrick.
Make sure to view it in HD.
I hope you've enjoyed the video, imperfect though it may be. Let me know in the comments what you think of it, meanwhile I shall continue work on the mod with the full intention to release sometime in the coming year.
Again, thanks for voting L'Aigle into the Top 100 and make sure to vote again now that we've made it!
Thanks.
the running animation looks a bit awkward, is it WIP? (yes i read that everything is basically WIP but can we expect the running animtion of soldiers to be changed or is that out of your hands?)
The running animation looks like the standard warband one which is fine.
I hope you are not a developer because that standard warband one doesn't look all that "fine", its pretty bad for a game from 2010 (or 2011 or whatever). I guess the devs agree since they make this mod in the first place when there is an official DLC...
The original game was released back in 2008 by an independent game developer. Everything in the game was made by hand and by scratch by two people in four years.
I liked the Intro, there gladly is not much "over the top"- Music. Playing well together with the cuts and Camera Controls, wich aren't actually bad in any way, it's overall a neat and interesting introduction to the mod. Good luck on making it to the Top 10!
I just can't say anything more than: Awesome! Purely Awesome!
PLZ! tel me will it be out this year?
what an amazing gameplay ,one of the few mods that completed their work
will done guys cant wait to try it :)
Great! This is truly going to be the best Warband mod ever both gameplay, and graphics vice.
What's the current state of the campaign map by the way? Just interested
Everything you've added so far to the game is a big improvement: shooting and reloading animations, uniforms, horses, weapons, shaders, new map, and so on. Unfortunately every Native thing now stands out quite a bit, in a bad way: ugly simplistic trees, apparent sliding during running animation, very sparse grass, geometry and textures of heads and hands of troops. It would be terrific if all of that matched your works in quality.
Trailer in itself is good but not great. There are some outstanding shots (slo-mo cavalry charge accompanied by brilliant music) but I don't really like editing and script. Took me way too long to realize it is supposed to be one battle. Those black screens with text - we want to look at your amazing models and textures, not on pitch black chasm. Why not put texts on video material? Also, video could be more relevant to what's on these texts. "Unmatched historical accuracy" - you show horses stopping suddenly after charging in ridiculous M&B way; "hundreds of accurate weapons and uniforms" - you show two kinds of troops and few weapons; "massive map of Europe" - you show German cavalry.
That said, the mod is already looking very impressive!
By the way, the cooldown of forearming the gun would not be slow....
We wont to shoot many times in a battle.......
:)
Can you make your own regiment? customise uniforms? armaments?
