DEADLOCK is a mod for Valve's Left4Dead, a first person shooter set in a zombie apocalypse. We had two months of pre-production and we're entering our fourth week of production. We're looking for a concept artist.
This project includes an unusually large cast of characters for an FPS. They vary in age, size, ethnicity, gender and personality. We need a concept artist who can work with the game designers to bring this cast to life through 2D art - sketches at first and colored, digital/mixed media later. In addition to creating material for 3d artists to base their work upon, the concept artist will create art with the characters to be used in promotional material.
Aesthetically, the DEADLOCK world is grim, dirty and has a sense of doom to it. The lives of the characters are brutal and visceral. We need the art to communicate how broken the characters are, and allude to what they've lost. Realism is crucial. If this sounds like your kind of thing, we'd love to talk. The ideal candidate has done concept art for games before and/or has done 3d modeling, but talent and communication skills go a long way!
