- On September 14th you will see the first release of Black Mesa! This will include our re-envisioning of Half-Life all the way up to Lambda Core. We believe this is a great way to provide a complete-feeling 8-10 hour experience with a solid ending, make our fans happy and help us make the best overall game possible.
We are still working hard on Xen and BMDM, but instead of making you wait we are giving you Black Mesa as soon as it's ready! We're doing our best to help bring the immense vision of this project into reality, and we are very excited for what the future brings!

Saw the countdown on their website last night.
So excited! Not sure if I'm going to wait for the full release with Xen, or download this one anyway...

Xen will be a separated mod (probably called "Xen").
BMDM is also a different build.

At least we have a release date, and at least it took at lot less longer that Duke Nukem Forever to release. I'm just happy it's here.

I think Valve should just give HL3 to Black Mesa source. Because lets face it, it's been 6 years. BMDT has a game. Valve does not.
Lets just call Black Mesa Source Half Life 3 and be done with it. BMDT would have probably done a better job at Half Life 3 anyway if they got valve-like funding and a room with a big-*** valve in it.

Hopefully their will be multiple DL links so their wont be an overload of people trying to DL BM and causing the links to crash. Probably going to happen anyway but I am hoping they'll be more than 5.

Amazing! I remember when I read about this in a PC Gamer magazine back in 2004 or 2005, and now it's finally coming out! When I play this in 11 days, it's really gonna feel like the end of a long wait!

Its all the way up to Lambda Core. Xen will be released at a later time.

So conflicted, now I know how Ross Scott must feel, all those years of doing HL machinima and now BM is going to be released in a week... hoping we get a few episodes of Freemans Mind using this :-p

Is Xen going to take a long time? I find it strange you would go this long, then release it unfinished.
It's strange you would want to delay the release even longer than it has been. The game is up to Lamba Core is finished, and bug fixed and polished up the wazoo and you want us all to wait longer before playing the game after already waiting 7 years... I have no problem waiting for BMDM, that was expected. Xen on the other hand, I can see some people being sad about having to wait for it, especially because its something they have shown zero of because they wanted it to be surprise... but also I expect because its the hardest to modernize because it was the weakest part of HL for many. Showing it off unfinished would attract to much negative vibes. I'm fine with playing BM while we wait for Xen.
