Hellooooo!
I'm very pleased to reveal to you this combat gameplay video, which we've had knocking around for a couple of months but haven't revealed to the public until now. I must say that even in the last week, practically every element of gameplay has been improved greatly thanks to our programmers working solidly on it. It's all coming together brilliantly and we can't wait to show you more!
Please note that the HUD is placeholder (we've got some shiny new stuff in now), the Apex destruction is working smoother, the effects are 80% more badass, the AI is actually taking us by surprise now, and new mechanics are being prototyped. Let's say this week was very... constructive .

nice game play video
Really awesome combat (I don't think I've seen another game do this sort of thing)
One tiny issue though; the tossing animation seems a bit too slow (or just not vicious enough) IMO.
To me it just seems more like a push than a slam.
But everything else (even the HUD) is brilliant.
Thanks BlahDog - Crit like this is really appreciated, we use the word "innovation" tentatively, but with this combat approch being an innovation (as we see it) of a genre, the community's input in tweaking designs and ideas is paramount to making the game fun and polished. The thing we need more than ever is for people to make suggestions and - if you can - tell us how you think the controls should work and how it should feel, even before we release the tech demo, so that we can keep a committed dialogue open with the people who genuinely want to be a part of making the game that they want to play - in short; help us make it your game of choice!
I'd have to disagree with BlahDog, I think the tossing looks more or less perfect, but thats just my 2 cents :S
All the animations are being tweaked from our original ones since there's a whole bunch going on to improve the linking of object motion and arm/hand movement, so if a throw is quick, the 1st person animation will be quick. If an object or enemy is pinned against a wall, your hand will behave like it's holding that thing to the wall. It makes for a really powerful sensation!
This is freaking awesome!
Love it!
Wow this looks really awesome already!
very nice.
So cool
Impressive work!
i look forward to seeing house/base building
How do you fancy a video of the construction mechanic? If you're signed up to our forums we should be sharing one within the forums first as we have something that not many other building mechanics in creation games can boast - simple but effective...
would you be realising a demo if so when because i want to play this game so much it looks awesome
Yes, we should be releasing a demo in some format later this year. It's very important to us to get certain mechanics in there for the tech demo so that when we move to pre-alpha, people realise that the best community input has been taken on-board (subject to our design!) - best way to put it - the more you interact with us, share your ideas and help build the Eden Star community, the sooner you will personally get your hands on a playable build - sound fair? :)
Question: Will there be co-op? If so, will the slow motion effect stay during co-op sessions?
Hi Toxsic, co-op is something that we definitely want in Eden Star and will help sculpt the format of the game in the future (but is not planned to feature in early public releases). The slow-mo should be thought more like stasis ruptures caused by the Teslinium powered RMD Tool, this means that if you activate slow-mo it will not affect your co-op friends, but it will effect the enemies that are caught in your field of view. More about this at a later point and will be discussed on our forums :)
This looks fantastic so far, keep it up.
Just one thing that last robot you killed was like pushing you to back and screaming "You forgot about me! Kill me!! Kill me please!" Little more tactics for AI would be nice if it isnt done already
*Cough* *Cough* *bug* *Cough* *Cough* *made to look cool* *Cough* *Cough* - you spotted it Fireball, for this you receive a cookie. Great to have you active on the boards and appreciate the feedback.
The background song feels like a Bear McCreary creation. Is it coincidental?
