Hello everyone we are BitterBeetleStudios and we are here to present the concept of our game about an alternative history event that changed the way the portuguese cod was fished.

Posted by on

As a brief introduction for the type of game we are making we decided to develop an exploration shooter game based on the Portuguese cod fishing in the 20 centuries mixing it with science fiction Victorian era machinery steampunk.

The game itself would take place in the Greenland sea where our protagonist drives a steam powered dory in search of cod fish with the help of his harpoon.

We decided to choose a First person single-player game with an emphasis on exploration and shooter, our target audience is focused on male young adults between the ages of 18 to 22.

Game Mechanics

Our mechanics include controlling the dory through the sea in search of fish, using a harpoon to catch the fish, random spawning of fish throughout the map in small quantities, and marked fishing areas with a higher spawn rate of certain fish species.

Game Art

The game will feature 3D low poly style graphics with a cold environment art set in the Greeland sea.

Game Narrative

Our game is set in an alternative universe where the Carnation Revolution (25 April) never occurred and Portugal took a different path…

Under Marcello Caitano orders there was a peak in steam machinery in all sectors…

We would play as a fisherman testing the new prototype of a steam based dory.

For today that is all we have to share.
With this concept we are currently working on a prototype that we will be sharing with you briefly.
Be sure to see all our post because we will cover topics like more artworks, concept art, prototypes, narrative and a full functional test build in the upcoming weeks.

We will see everyone next time.
