Hi all!
EDIT START
Please note that the mod "SUMMARY" and the article "MAIN MOD FEATURES" had been changed due to the situation!
EDIT END
At last I have finished off the Mosin-Nagant 3D models. I can proudly present a true Russian M1891/30 variant which was the most frequent and used of all Mosin-Nagants on the Eastern front. I did it because the original CoD2 Mosin-Nagant model was completely wrong, it was a hybrid between Finish (M28/30) and Russian (M1938) variants.
I made three M1891/30 models in total: an unscoped version, a sniper version with cloth cover and a sniper version without cloth cover. Both snipers have PU scope with x3,5 magnification.

When testing the Mosin-Nagants I took also additional pictures of some other weapons from the Eastern front.
Parabellum P-08
New model, reshaped, reshaded, remapped UVs, added a lot of detail (grip, locking mechanism, barrel, various pins). The new model naturaly goes with new skin in both DX7 and 9 modes. I took my attention especially to the DX9 mode which enables lights and bumps.
RGD-33
The original CoD2 model for Russian hand grenade - the RGD-33 was really low detail plus it had low resolution skin. Now we can enjoy skin with double resolution and more detailed model. I had to remap the UVs because the original model had quite a lot of glitches there. Model is reshaded as well and I improved the DX7 and 9 performance.
Tokarev TT-33
The remaking process of the Russian pistol started with the fact that it had an error when reloading - there was a clipping glitch - you could see the magazine going through and out of the grip. So I corrected it. When corecting this mistake I decided that I will fresh up the whole thing a bit. So it has a new skin with better contrast and detail in both DX7 and 9 modes. I had to remodel the whole slide because its geometry was messed up. There were errors in shape of the grip too. Reshading and remapping UVs was done as well.
Mauser Kar98k
I showed the Kar98k on Rhine map before. Here you can see how it looks in Russian winter. The whole model was adjusted a lot. I moved the bolt forwards a bit because in original CoD2 animation it was too backwards. Missing surfaces were filled and the whole model was given a more "Mauser" feeling. But the main work was done on skin, I took several photos to give myself an virtual image how I want the gun to look like. So the wood was completely changed. DX9 maps were heavily adjusted to give as perfect performance as possible.
MCh2207Cz
I like both versions, but the one with the cloth cover looks to similar to the Vanilla one imho, so I vote for the uncovered one!:-)
cloth.
I like it with the cloth covers.
without cloth
I'd like to vote for the cloth-covered sniper because it's still at the eastern front and there was plenty of snow (like in the videos/pics) so the cloth was very important for the snipers.
Besides the realism factor I just like the cloth-covered model more!
Cloth
Cloth cover=More realistic if all time sniper.
Without cloth cover=Still realistic, but not very effective.
I vote without cloth cover.
With cloth. Hands down.
Is that a PU scope on a hex receiver I see there? Tsk tsk.
Yes PU x3,5 scope and hex type receiver...
Btw what's your vote?
Would you please release the Cloth Covered Mosin Nagant Scoped as an addon please ?
With Cloth
Cloth.
Can't you inlcude both of them in different maps? Because both look excellent and it would be a really hard choice, if we had to choose only one of them.
But if you really have to include just one, then I think that it should be the one with the cloth cover, mainly because the whole Russian campaign is set during the winter. If it were, for example, in Berlin, then wothout clothes would fit better.
But still, if you can add both, it would be great.
Excellent job there!
ok, so far the the score is cloth (9) vs. noncloth (3)
To Vassili_Tzaisev:
It is theoretically possible. But the way of doing it is very unsatisfying - there would have been two Mosin-Nagant sniper weaponfiles with incompatible ammo (just like scoped vs. unscoped Mosin-Nagant ammo).
I'd have to go with cloth too, but both look amazing.
Quick question, I know what your talking about with the ammo, but ideally how would you want the ammo to work? (e.g. sharing of ammo without losing ammo at the same time or something else)
I mean that there would have been two absolutely identical weapons just with different look. Ideally I would want the cloth cover as an attachment or kind of perk or something. But to my knowledge this is not possible in cod2. I am able to script the attachment for 3rd person model but not for 1st person model...
Mmm I think that this is possible in MP but in SP I have no idea :(
its stupid that its not possible to create shared ammo, l mean if you have both springfields or enfields it is more that just theoretically possible to transfer bullets to and from each weapon
Yes in real life you can transfer ammo for weapons that fire same catridge. So you can take off ammo from kar98k, fill it into belt and fire it from mg42 =)
That's sadly a thing not possible in games...
w/ cloth
Just add, my vote is without cloth.
So the score is cloth (11) vs. noncloth (4)
M1891/30 with cloth
noncloth, CoD1-esque is the coolest ever...and l loved the sniping parts of that game
Score, cloth (12) vs. noncloth (5)
I vote for the cloth, its just all cool looking.
Hard choice guys, I really wish you could include both. But if I had to pick, I would want to try out the non-cloth, since the vanilla cod2, we've had the cloth by default (but the cloth remodel that you have done I would totally want to use as well).
(just also on the curious side, if you made them to have the same ammo, you would have to carry both models to have them share it? Dropping one of the models may end up having the dropped weapon take all the bullets?) Actually, wait this would still be a hassle to create rather similar files, but with just different models?
to the curious side - exactly that :-) There is also a second option with the ammo sharing, but the result is also not good enough.
Score, cloth (13) vs. noncloth (6)
without cloth !
Of course with cloth!
Score, cloth (14) vs. noncloth (7)
Without cloth!
Score, cloth (14) vs. noncloth (8)
not be a bad friend does not put survey. at most places in the full version with cloth mosin and then a separate skins free cloth with the gun, because the truth 2 modes at q is the weapon itself is realistic for the times and not much see the cloth q the realism of the gun. if you answer me this, I take a load off.
from now thanks.
y si es un texto largo.and if a long text.
It depends if we solve the duplicate scoped mosin issue somehow.
If yes, both models will be in the mod at a time.
If no, unscoped mosin will be downloadable as an addon.
I made a mistake in my comment above, there should be:
"If no, noncloth mosin will be downloadable as an addon."
