The subject pretty much says it all. A clarification and a progress report from Rorius.

At this time, if you want Portal: Unity to work properly you MUST:

  • Own Portal (the full game) on steam
  • Download and install the main Portal: Unity mod zip file
  • Download and install patch 1 (Laser Fix) and patch 2 (Steampipe Fix)

If you use Desura or Moddb please note, you must install the patches manually from the download page.
I have tested the above steps myself and if you do install them in that order then the mod works fine.

Now that that's out of the way, Progress Report-
I have now fully converted 17/22 of the test chamber map files. After that there is still 3 'escape' map files to go. These later maps have been taking a little longer for me to complete as the complexity of the maps increased and as more of the puzzle mechanics we had added are included. I will say, I have been reconstructing large sections of some of the maps, partly because some of them were designed around mechanics that either no longer work or have better versions that work slightly differently, then for some of the maps I just didn't like how turned out originally so I redesigned them. I hope people don't miss the old stuff that has been replaced, I think the new structure is a bit better now.

I will eventually get through all these maps, hopefully some people look forward to giving Portal: Unity another try.

P.S.: I will probably make a new page for the reboot once I have the maps done, after that It's just voice work that's left to do. I haven't yet decided how I'm going to tackle that obstacle. I'll try to update a bit more frequently.

P.P.S.: I wrote this update out about half a week ago, I come to check on it and it's nowhere to be found. The last time I wrote it out it was so much more professional. Makes me a little mad lol. Please don't loose my update this time Moddb...
