Wow, where to even begin? How about by viewing this brand new gameplay trailer?

The astute reader may have noticed the new gloves and icons in the corners. Those are the new guard meters! Up at the face means your opponent's fully on guard - and not likely to get hit. You could still try an exploratory jab, but take the risk of getting counter-punched. Or you could wait until your opponent's guard drops down during their own attack, and start pulling it down with a flurry of punches!

Behind the scenes, I also changed Beast Boxing Turbo to use different to-hit calculations, damage, and speed for each punch with each side - this differentiates say, a jab (left hand straight punch) from a cross (right hand straight punch). Together with the varying states of wariness that an opponent gets in, the guard meters are a quick peripheral visualization of how "on guard" your opponent is, and see if it's a good time to start throwing heavy punches. It makes a complex (and more fun) system easier to understand!

On top of this new fighting system, I'm also in the process of adding in extended tutorial scenes to explain the finer points of Beast Boxing, and a brand new customizable gear system. The gear system is looking sweet - you'll be able to choose armor, pants, gloves, accessories, and shoulder/arm gear that all give your 2d character a unique look and special bonuses. Since the game is in first-person view, we'll be re-texturing the gloves to match, of course, but this is a fun system that will also carry through to NewGame Plus modes.

If you're interested in seeing Beast Boxing Turbo be available on Steam, please vote for us and spread the word about our new page for Beast Boxing Turbo on Steam Greenlight! It's a way for the community of Steam gamers to make their voice heard when Valve is choosing what to bring onto their platform, and I'd appreciate it if you took the time to check out our page there. Thanks, and as always, leave a comment if you have any questions or suggestions!
