In role of Heavy Cavalry, noble mans of Volantis serve as Cataphracts, the best equipment and horses. Noble Cataphracts can be a decisive part of the battle.
Regular citizen of Volantis also serve in cavalry, they create Lancers Squads, Lancers its a light cavalry armed with spear and shield, the best use for Lancers, its flank strikes and destroying enemy missile units.
Freedmens also can serve as cavalry if they have money to buy a horse, in Volantis Army they create light cavalry squads, the best role for them, pursing retreating enemies and kiling archers or javeliners.
Its all about cavalry, now we can talk about missile units.
Rich citizen what can afford a good equipment but they do not want to be a part of infantry usually serve as Armored Archers in Volantis Army, they are professional archers with long range of attack.
The poorer citizens also serve as Archers in Volantis army, they not so good as Armored Archers, but they now how to get job done.
Freedmens can serve in Volantis army as levy archers, if they don't like infantry role.

Slave Warriors - as we said above, in time of need city can recruit slave to the army, if they masters have a surplus funds they can buy a normal equipment for their slaves, they will fight well, but not expect to much from them.
Slave Spearmen - In the time of need, people of Volantis can recruit slave for the army to be a levy spearmen, usually they have terrible equipment and their moral is low.
Freedmen Spearmen - freedmens are very big part of Volantis society, slaves can be released by master, or they can buy back themselfs, but after it, they will not be the citizens of Volantis, to have a job, usually they go to serve as city militia.
