And so the wheels are set in motion. May they remain so until we arrive at our destination...

Now, I'm sure many of you are wondering what exactly "First of Four" is, and what makes it stick out from other Half-Life 2/Source modifications. Well I don't want to repeat things I've already said elsewhere, so I shall summerize what the plans/goals of this mod are:
First of Four is a Role-Playing Game (RPG) modification for Valve's Source engine, set in a modern day city with a touch of the supernatural. The supernatural element manifests itself through possible choices for the player's character: Vampires, Mages, etc. The world as a whole is ignorant of these creatures, though, so the player (as well as NPC supernatural denizens of the world) must take care to avoid revealing themselves to others.
Although there will eventually be a storyline to go along with the mod, the first priority will be to create a world that is as immersive and dynamic as possible. Examples of this include NPCs that react to a character's actions (such as walking around with an unconcealed weapon or using powers in public), a realistic world (healing requires time, possibly time spent in a hospital; characters generally must eat and sleep to survive; etc.), and a world that the player can fully interact with (possibilites including owning/renting a place of residence, having a job, etc).

Of course, this project won't make itself, and we need you to help, as well as anyone else you think may be interested! If you're looking for something that will challenge you (in a good way ^_^), something you will have fun creating, and something that you will be proud to have contributed to in the future (resume material?), then there's a place open on the team for you.

We're currently looking for anyone willing to contribute in any way. This includes formulating what the game will be like (possible storylines; creating the different variations of demons/vampires/etc and their powers; ideas for gameplay; etc), creating the material to be used in the game (models, textures, animations, etc), and the actual implementation of the game itself (maps, coding, etc).
Positions that are currently especially important are coders and mappers. Can't have a game without a world, and can't have a world without a game. ^_^

To find more information or join the team, visit our website at Victorian Industries. Please keep in mind that the page is currently under instruction, but the forums are up-and-running, so feel free to contribute your ideas and input regarding the mod and the site there.
