So it's the first working day of the year, and we've got two more people in the office now. Carl Manneh and Tobias Möllstam. And we've got the entire office as well now.
As a teenager, I read PC Gamer compulsively. Not only did they give me access to game demos before the internets got big, but they also had a very strange British sense of humour, something which I've always loved (Monty Python, Bill Bailey, Eddie Izzard, Father Ted (see the important edit below!), Queen Elizabeth II). Oh, and they reviewed games.
I remember getting the first episode of They Hunger on a cover disk, something which reeks of indie development, made way before it was “cool”, and people just made games because they liked to.
And now they went and named Minecraft Game of the Year. That's huge. We're talking “getting a hug from Bruce Campbell”-huge. It's so big, I have to use an emoticon! :D

AND.. just a few minutes ago, I found out that Minecraft got three nominations for the Independent Games Festival (Grand Prize, Technical Excellence, and Excellence In Design). So this means I definitely will be going to the GDC this year! :D
On Wednesday, we'll have a strategy meeting of sorts and try to work out some vague plans and try to decide how to drive Minecraft beta development and try to define what the finished game will actually be. We won't start work on modding or anything like that before then.
But! We (especially Jens) have added a bunch of new content to Minecraft that we want to get out asap, so there will be a content patch update next week with a whole pile of fun new toys, including a water mob and quite possibly paint if we can figure out how exactly it should work.
(Oh, and Minecraft will hit 1 million sales soon, and I have NO idea how to celebrate that! There's no time to plan anything!)
[IMPORTANT EDIT:]
Turns out the team that made Father Ted were Irish! Ireland is now officially better than England.
I'm sorry if that offends anyone, but Father Ted is the funniest thing ever made. And that's a fact.
Also, by the way, Mojang have a film crew in today and tomorrow. woooo.
So... the cake is a lie. :(
This is the only time I will ever allow you to use that meme >_> because it does, in fact, seem to be true.
then why do i not have cake?
Even when it's not possible to use that tired old meme, some still cling to it for dear life. This is distressing.
very, yes.
watch the it crowd if you love father ted - same writer
I've heard there's something in works which might catapult Minecraft out of the thing 'it's a toy' and out into use for teambuilding within corporations. Some Dutch friends of me are working on that.
ADD GUNS! PPPLLLEEEAAASSSE! If only I had one bullet for that mother loving creeper. Mods don't seem to work, so I cant put a bullet in him. Arrows will have to do :(
Where is the cake? IT...CANT...BE...A...LIE. (curles into feedle position) No...no.
Can someone direct me to a website or contact where I can post some ideas for minecraft? I'm not a coder but I have some interesting ideas for Notch that may interest him =)
Also, congratulations to him and the team for doing such a grand job! It needs to be said as they've gone through some rough times in real life and in making this beta. All the best to Mojang specs, may the force be with you ^^
