You know that T-54 is long absolute, and T-55 was more produced (and is the most mass-produced tank in history)? If Russia would have a massed tank, it would be T-72, that is more younger, and believable. Just my thought.
It's just a....Spammable tank,and is auto created by a tier-1 tech building.
T-72s will be used by another design,this faction will have many tanks and many superweapons related to the tanks.
And besides, the turret is too tall in my opinion ;)

I'd better get a real T54's picture before I change it.
Rename it to T-55 and you will be good to find it. T-54 and T-55 were virtually the same in appearance.
