The Unofficial Patch is not really a mod, but while the default basic patch mostly only fixes bugs, the optional plus patch, that can be choosen at installation, is like a restoration project, adding a lot of unfinished content, including new quests, levels, weapons, items, characters, dialogue, graphics, models, sounds and music!

Just finished a play through with the latest patch as a female Nosferatu. I had a lot of fun.

There were only two story bugs I noticed in my play through.

Wong Ho is still alive in his office after his death after he goes to confront Ming about her involvement with the Fu Syndicate. I saw the newspaper and television report on his death but he's still sitting in his office but won't talk to me.

I tried to stealth enter the Giovanni mansion but the doors wouldn't open, even after luring the guards at the back door away by throwing cans, until I attacked the guards or alerted them to my presence. I managed to get it to work by stealth killing both guards at the back, which didn't alert anyone inside or out, and sneaking through the rest of the mansion. But the game treated it as though I slaughtered my way through.

Other than that it worked pretty great. Thanks.

About Wong Ho, can you open the console, type "G.Story_State" and "G.WongHo_Dead" and post the results here for a saved game where he is alive, but should be dead?

About the Giovanni, what do you mean the game treated it like you slaughtered your way through? What did the questlog say? Also I can't lure the guard at the door away...

The guards will ignore the can if you throw it while using obfuscate so that might be it. The guard who leans against the door can't be killed with a sneak attack while your behind him after he walks away from the door so I drained him to death while feeding.

The questlog said I infiltrated the mansion, but in conversation with other characters like Pisha when giving her the Giovanni book I mention that the Giovanni clan here is now extinct when she asks how I got it.

About Wong Ho: Very weird, he should be gone at that Story State regardless of whether you warned him or not. Is Kikki also there? Do you have some Python errors in the console?

About the Giovanni: I can't get the door guard to leave and when I feed on him, the other guard always sees it and attacks, botching the map which is ok. Still I think the comment to Pisha is a bit hard, I'll change it to only be valid if you actually killed Bruno, the only real Giovanni there...

Yes Kikki is still there as well. I checked a later save from my play through and they do eventually disappear just not when they are supposed to.

There are some error messages. What sort of thing should I be looking for?

Giovanni: another way to do it that I tried and seems to work is to obfuscate and stealth kill the guard walking back and forth which will put the one by the door on alert but not sound the alarm. When he walks over to investigate you need to get behind him and initiate feeding from behind. The rest of the guards will not be alerted and you can complete the mission quietly. It took me a while to get the timing right. The doors don't seem to become accessible unless you kill both guards.

Maybe have an alternate line for Pisha like "Breaking and entering is my specialty" if you do it stealthily.

I wonder what I alert I tripped then. When I killed the two guards it didn't trigger the combat music and neither one fired a shot, and if the guards outside are alerted when you enter the mansion Bruno immediately kicks down the door for the optional boss fight and begins wandering around the mansion. But that didn't happen for me. I thought I aced it but apparently not.

The condition is FoundEnemy and it might have been triggered because when you killed them, they were made aware of you ;). The real silent approach would be getting an invitation...

Hi. I downloaded your mod and I installed the patch and tried playing a new game and for some reason when I try to save Heather it gives me the option of the dialogue but then it kicks me out and nothing else happens. When I try talking to her again I just get her moaning afterwards and nothing else. Am I doing something wrong?

Are you using the basic or the plus version of the patch? Also what do you mean by "kicks you out"? What is your last line?

I'm new to VTMB! I really like this patch (seriously, there's so much to it!), but some issues I had playing were that Fat Larry was missing when I just installed basic patch and patch plus, and also what looks to me like a missing texture or something? It happened in The Asylum by the stairs next to the bar and the lady you can sweet talk into giving you blood. This happened while I only had the Basic Patch (but if anything remained from when patch plus was installed that may have been a cause of the problem?)

Another problem is that - plus patch or not - every time I load in an area, many NPCs will panic and run away from something. When this happened, Fat Larry was dead at his spawn point, where his gun was left behind. It's possible the same thing happened the first time I arrived Downtown earlier but I didn't notice picking up his gun. This and the texture error both happen even when I edited the steam launch options as instructed.

I'm currently messing around with other mods and stuff so I can customize my experience more. How can I uninstall this? The readme says to delete patch links and directory in order to uninstall but other than the Unofficial Patch folder, I'm not sure what else to change or delete.

If you swapped during a game between basic and plus it's no wonder you got problems, you always need to start a new game afterwards! Larry is in a different place in the plus patch, near to Club Confession. Sometimes he can get caught up in a gang fight and may be killed. Can you make a screenshot of the missing texture at the Asylum, cause I can't imagine what happened there. If people are running away from you, you might play as a Nosferatu! To deinstall the patch just remove the patch folder and the patch shortcut.

Oh geez, leave it to me to totally forget that. I guess it's still interesting to look at the bugs that happen when people do this though. Anyways, here are a couple screenies: Drive.google.com

The first one is of the missing texture. A similar phenomenon happens in a couple other places I think. Where the texture is missing, by the stairs, it retains a phantom image of other objects that move over where the missing texture is. (In this photo you can also see people running from me even though I'm playing as a Tremere.)

The second screenshot is what happens when I delete the Unofficial Patch folder. AI becomes inactive (besides quest related combat I think, since I did the quest with the Russians while this was going on).

I was initially reluctant because I didn't really want to redo all my progress, but it was only 10 or so hours I guess. It's nice to be able to reroll, too. So I started a new game and I was initially going to skip the tutorial but I'm pretty sure you can get a free lockpick if you do it, so I went back. The problem is that, after feeding on the guy by his car, I can't interact with the door to meet with Jack, and so cannot progress. I guess paying $90 for a lockpick and skipping the tutorial is what I gotta do. (Edit: Okay, so it turns out the door can be interacted with but it takes some backing up and walking back to it a few times for it to work? That's so weird! Code, dude.)

Thanks for your help and also this whole patch, man! I want to be able to do stuff like this one day, too!

The effect you see in the Asylum is no missing texture but a map hole and is another result from continueing the old saved game. Also the door in the tutorial sometimes takes a bit to give the icon, just wait. You can find a free lockpick at the warehouse too, if you want to skip the tutorial...

Amazing work. The greatest legacy Troika left us besides the wonderful games is the fact that often we'll get amazing restoration projects like this one.
