During a search for a lost girl, two close friends make a shocking discovery. Deep in the thick forests of Sweden, they find a deserted town, with no signs of any life within miles. Just as the two friends are about to leave the town to call the police, they are both dragged into a compelling mystery surrounding the decietful past of the town, Hovgård.

You can make a grain effect in source. Left 4 Dead does it.

But it needs some coding... HL2 doesn't do it, right? I think if they don't have idea how to add the grain effect, they won't have, because there's no full SDK for L4D, so they can't check how to add it.

You could ask valve what they did for such an effect, and if HL2 does it. They are pretty compliant with helping out the modding community. I think Gabe Newell will be able to forward your question to one of the coders/texture artists that pulled it off.

it's a simple post processing shader(li,ke bloom or color correction), that would not be very hard to add.
