In the year 1009 a viking host under the leadership of Thorkell the Tall landed near Ipswich. With the english great warfleet destroyed by inner quarrels and little help from the infirm king Aethelred II. the kings reeve Aelfweard moves out from the safety of his kentish fortress to keep the invaders from harrying on both sides of the Thames.
This event will deal with Aelfweard reeve defending the historical city of Ashford in an attempt to fend off the viking invaders. The river Eshe, today known as Stour, runs through the city and can only be crossed over bridges. Here the heaviest fighting will be done.
The Viking and Engle armies will be divided up into host, most composed of clan player, but it is possible to sign up for some hosts as guest. Anyone joining in without signing up is expected to at least join the TS channel to learn the password and get the general coordination. The channel data is:
