UT40K: The Chosen Although 40K players and other Mod Teams may not have herd about us, we have in fact been going on, for quite a while. The fact that a ModDB page was never set up for us has only just been brought to light. We are a small but dedicated team, devoted to bringing the universe of Games Workshops Warhammer 40,000 to it's full glory, using the UT3 engine. While we have been toiling in the shadows, we have actually managed to release a Number of Public Betas over the last year and improve on them with each upgrade. We are devoted to remaining as close to the publish code rules as we possibly can, to the point where we have implemented both the JAM system, for the Terminator Assault Cannon, and a fully functional vehicle damage system, complete with Front, Side and Rear armour values and features all of the ways of disabling a vehicle (e.g. Crew Stunned, Weapon Destroyed, Immobilised and all the others) We have two mostly functional races available; The Imperium's...

Not bad. Of course the material needs a lot of work, but it's still wip. Is this in UT3 or UDK?

the material is just my basic material for all building meshes, atm it's just UDK, promise to upload some stuff for the mappers in the next few days

Nice work, can i ask: What planet/setting/theme is this bastion from? Coz as a mapper, id like to have everything organized into sections so i dont end up using say civilian houses from one planet on a completely different themed map.

the Bastion is a Standard Template Construct of the Imperium so it can be found on all Imperial worlds also on ex-imperial worlds
eg, with a few extra meshes it can be ork or chaos

Yes but if it was say found on a frozen planet, would it not have ice and snow on it? In which case you'd have to change the texture wouldnt you? Or could you use decals for things like that?

Yeah im a little confused too, probably because i have never played the tabletop game. So if this bastion is a Standard Template Construct, how come the designers of DoW2 used a different style of structure for some of the imperial worlds they designed?

problely due to the time it take to do a game and how it's done for the tabletop game, don't forget computer games take over 2 years to due at some point you have to lock the design, on the table top if it doesn't look right then GW changes it, if not straight away then with the next release, you should see some of my models/building from the early/mid 90's ;)

Hmm ok, i also guess that a civilian planet which has not seen the Imperial Guard, only the space marines might have a different style of structures too.

The buildings you're talking about in DoW2 are just plain civilian buildings with no intended military purpose. Geo's STC Bastion is a military building constructed and used by any imperial forces (Imperial Guard, Space Marines, Sisters of Battle, etc.).

Civilian buildings can and will vary greatly from planet to planet. STC buildings will all look pretty much the same no matter which planet they are on.

Ahhhh ok that makes much more sense now. So i guess if you had a civilian planet like calderis facing a large scale battle, you'd expect to see some of these STC buildings erected as defensive/military buildings?

That's right. So this kind of decoration would fit into almost any kind of map theme you could want; jungle, city, desert, swamp, moon, whatever!

That's an awesome wartrack(?) I'm not real savvy on ork related stuff. That's looking real good. Only problem I can see is that the seat for the driver looks kinda cramped. You might need to give the driver a little more room there (and make sure he's not getting shot through the head!) :nervous:

yep thats one of the old wartrax models, i first did it in gmax :) a long time ago before i knew about game modeling, it's now all re-modeled and i started doing a few normal map areas (wheels) for it the rest should work fine with textures, i'll check the position soon as the models on my laptop not here, i hope to get time at work this week to do a texture for it but we'll see how it goes,
btw it will be RED

It just doesnt look that orky to me for some reason. I dont know there isnt enough scrap metal and wood and all that on it, it all looks too perfect and clean if you get what i mean. Not enough grunge.

A lot of that "orky" look can be done in the material. Plus having a bunch of orks hanging out of it doesn't hurt either
