Don't get me wrong, I really love the mod, however it has some issues but the biggest issue by far is the way the taskmanager got changed to the original version.

How I played the game on Uplink (original): Just have my standard background programs running (Trace, Motion sensor) and maybe some smaller programs too if I am grinding some missions (ip lookup, voice analyzer, log deleter..). Now, once I do a mission and need an active program doing something fast like Password breaker, Decypher, etc I would just start it, max out it's CPU to the very right and it would do the job fast and all other programs would run on super low ressources while still doing their job.

With Uplink OS the entire taskmanager and CPU usage gets utterly screwed. I'm even always taking about max gate and max cpu here. that's 8x200Mhz = 1600Ghz CPU. On Uplink OS the taskmanager CONSTANTLY readjusts CPU usage for background programs. Say I put tracer and motion sensor to 5% CPU Usage. Now I start my active programs and crank it up while hacking. I move on and do some other tasks and the non-active programs constantly readjust themselve and use more and more and more CPU. I am constantly struggling and have to massively micromanage my taskmanager CONSTANTLY after every task. If I don't my stuff like tracer, motion sensor, etc will use up 30% cpu (or much more) and my active programs can't be cranked up anymore. Instead of just cranking it up like usually I would have to manually tune down EVERY SINGLE program first (tracer, motion sensor, bypassers, etc.). and then can crank it up. But it takes so much time for every task and is massively annoying. And I have to do it over and over again. every task. The "Pin" feature is also massively useless. I put stuff down to 2-5% cpu and "pin" it but it will still constantly go up, and up, and up and readjust after every action I do with other programs. It just seems to pin it so it can't go below that number if you crank others. Which is annoying since the pin also works if they use way too much cpu, meaning no cpu left for main tasks. Also the fact that unpinned tasks can not work if they have too little cpu is stupid. If I max my password breaker I want every other programm to have the minimum possible (while still doing it's job) and have password breaker the most CPU.

Overall I don't understand why the taskmanager was butchered so hard, it literally makes the mod unplayable for me. I wished it used just the old taskmanager mechanics, with a graphical upgrade. Or allow us to set PERMANENT cpu usage per program. the way it works right now is terrible.

On a unrelated sidenote why doesn't numpad , make dots for IPs? In original it does. can't use numpad to type ips on the mod, which is a shame too.

Heh, yup. This project had constant updates, improvements. Then the buggy task manager goes in and updates stop. Pretty annoying since it wrecks playability.

Already posted months ago, silence since then.
