Ultimate Empire at War is a conversion of Star Wars: Empire at War: Forces of Corruption. It aims to include four eras of Star Wars history: the Age of the Old Republic, the Clone Wars, the Galactic Civil War, and the Dawn of the New Republic in an re-created game that is more engaging on both the tactical and strategic level, enhancing gameplay and deepening it, as well as overhauling the graphics in the game. In short - EaW the way it was meant to be - spanning Star Wars history in a deeply strategic game with high quality graphics and challenging gameplay.
The very detailed Acclamator skin I noticed when balancing the Republic VS CIS, thought I'd show you guys.
mmm, click view original, that works far better.
Damn thats a pretty ship! Have there been any new hardpoints added on from the original one from FOC? I always felt that even if it was the lowest tier ship it was still a tad underpowered.
It depends entirely:
The Acclamator I is a Troop Transport, Landing and Support Cruiser - it's not heavily armed, but has numerous lighter batteries for defence in a combat situation and to allow it to fulfil its mixed role, contributing some fleet screening capabilities. Light turbolasers, laser cannon batteries and light proton torpedoes. She also carries a significant complement of starfighters. She's still heavily armoured and after all is quite a large ship - made to transport thousands of clone troopers, after all. In V2, she'll have a significant troop transport capacity, if all goes well (consider here the advantage of using an Acclamator instead of, say, a small pack of CR20s).
The Acclamator II on the other hand is more of a dedicated warship, with planetary surface bombardment capacity and a heavier load-out of weapons - including heavier torpedo bays, heavier grade turbolasers and more of them. She doesn't carry as many troops or starfighters as an Acclamator I, but she has firepower that matches her size, and will often be found acting in a frigate role to the heavier Venators.
(For most of our ships, if not all, if you read wookieepedia - you'll know what the ship will be doing!)
That's awesome that you guys are trying to stay true to canon :) I'm really into mods like that!
We're trying to stay true to canon without making the game too much of a pain. We are aiming for a better tactical simulation of space battles, but not everything is precisely scaled to canon.
We could (and have the figures calculated) for making everything precisely scaled, shielded et cetera as canon, but then we're balancing it. Not balancing like in vanilla (Rock Paper Scissors makes me sick), but just tweaking it so it's playable and still representative of canon without breaking the game. Basically, what a wiki says about a ship is what it does - whilst we have to deal with coding, we're essentially aiming to make sure everything is true to its role and capabilities.
ah ok, is there a unit list I can peruse? I cant find it, I blame my glasses...
There is a list in the Announcements board of our forums (it should be attached to a stickied thread; I believe you have to have an account to be able to download it - it's pdf format).
It may be slightly out of date; I believe the rosters for the Old Republic era have been increased somewhat - when we made the list, the new The Old Republic MMORPG hadn't even been announced, and since then we've had all the media associated with it to work from etc.
thank you! what were you planning on adding from TOR? And I figured I should make an account, I have one on EEAW and IA2 time to join another cool community :D
I don't know precisely - I've been away for a month or so. I believe Geroenimo has added the Derriphan-class, for example, but other things include re-mastering of the Thranta-class (https://www.moddb.com/mods/ultimate-empire-at-war/images/thranta-cruiser2#imagebox) to match the new reliable artwork that we previously didn't have.
More people on the forums is always a good thing; last time I was around I was trying to resurrect our forum community since over years of team changes and mod re-organisation we only had a core active fanbase left, but it was on the rise before I had to... disappear until now, lol.
I have joined, run in terror ye mortals, imperial propaganda will soon be stuffed down your ears!
Yay im addicted to imperial propaganda...
THE JEDI ARE EVIL TERRORISTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hell yeah, I love this skin :P
Very. Strong. Bump. Map.
There were redesigns of Imperial, Victory and Venator SDs, CR90... why no one ever remake Acclamator? ... Oh, yes, the skin looks awesome! :D
There were remakes, but the original model was almost near-perfect, therefor any new models never really hooked on.
