Thrawn's Revenge is a large-scale mod for Empire at War: Forces of Corruption. It includes the events of the Galactic Civil War after Palpatine's death at Endor, up until the signing of the Pellaeon-Gavrisom treaty. If you own the Steam version of EaW, you will have to complete extra steps to run the mod after installation. Please see the manual for these steps.
Since Thrawn's Revenge is the primary exposure of some people to this period of the Expanded Universe, we've been trying to incorporate more lore-absed events and missions into 2.2 and 2.3. While some parts of the lore transition really well into in-game events and missions, there are other parts which don't but can still be interesting. For those who do want to learn more about the background and period, we're trying to include some information as holocron entries which people can read or not, depending on whether they care. they won't be essential for gameplay, but can give some extra background information.
Nice! This should help put things into better context for those unfamiliar with "Legends" content, which let's face it, is going to be an ever increasing issue as it's phased out of circulation and newer generations of fans are brought up without it.
Reading the entry shown here reminds me how, despite how goofy and nonsensical the old EU could be, it at least conveyed a proper sense of scale. One of the things that bothers me about the new post-Endor canon is how quickly the galaxy-spanning Empire folded in just a handful of battles (which was clumsily retconned with Palpatine's Contingency plan). The loss of a single Executor-class at Jakku was treated as a grand catastrophe that broke the Imperials' backs, despite the movies indicating that such ships were fairly common ("Now don't get jittery Luke, the Empire's got a lot of command ships" -Han Solo, RotJ). Here you really get a sense of just how huge the Empire was when the loss of multiple SSDs is treated with a shrug and an "oh well, them's the breaks" attitude.
The new lore on How the NR forced the empire from the galaxy brutally turned me off from anything new to come, aside from Rogue One. Inb4 some one calls me a disney hater, I just out right lost interest in the story telling after reading the empire losing one year after endor.
Rogue One was pretty **** though, at a technical scale. Definitely good in the Transformers sense but also a lot better than Transformers in that aspect.
I 100 percent disagree, It was a pure master piece of a movie imo.
Well if they call you a Disney hater, they'd be wrong.
LucasFilm still controls the story.
LOve the idea! It reminds me of the Historical Events system DeI implemented for Rome II.
Excellent idea. I first went ICW 2.1 without knowing much about the lore, and I used wookiepedia to figure some things out. This will make a huge difference imo.
Nice. more lore
