To install This is War simply extract the folder named "This Is War" from the zip file and place it in the "data_win/missions" folder found inside your main game directory. You will also need to run OFDR Hotkeys to access the hotkey functions from inside the game. If you do not have the hotkey app simply copy "OFDR-Hotkeys.exe" to your main game directory. Create a shortcut to it on your desktop and run it as administrator when you start Dragon Rising.
v2.5 fixes several objective points being buried in the ground and a crash that occured in coop play when a player mounted a static weapon. I recommend completely removing older versions of This Is War and restarting with a fresh install of the misison. As always, please report the bugs and thank you for the bug report on the previous version. Hotkeys will be available from your numpad keys and will allow you to do the following.
Hotkeys:
0- Save game data/Create a checkpoint
1- Recruit soldier to your fireteam
2- Recruit fireteam to your squad
3- Dismiss fireteams from your squad
4- Advance time 1 hour
5- Cycle weather type
6- Cycle fog density
7- Turn scoreboard off/on
8- Turn on/off the onscreen debugging (off by default)
9- Turn on/off the debug logging feature (off by default)
This is an all out war scenario where the ai will move to objective areas and fight on their own, but the player can recruit ai to their squad and fireteam. Your objectives will be displayed along with information regarding the status of the capture points on the island. Just follow the objectives displayed on the screen. If you want you can also move onto other areas of the island. Provided the us doesn't control everything in the area you will find a fight.Due to the efficiency of the new OFDR Mission Editor Expansion this mission has doubled in size and intensity featuring prop built locations all over the island in addition to all of the locations you might be used to. Like all of my missions I intend to fully support and bugfix any problems found within This is War so if you find a problem, please report it. As always, have fun!!
great mod. good job.
I love it ... but... i cant finish it, because always i have a crash. Dont know why, just when time pass... or when I load last saved game point... not sure why. I has 1 guy with me (as number 2ยบ) and numer 3,4 and 5 they was small squads, all mounted on the blackhawk, approaching a point, CTD.
Any idea?
Intel core 2 Duo 2.8 Ghz, Windows XP Pro 32bits SP3, 4 Gb Ram, 1Gb Video.
Regarding the crash you are experiencing, I'm not sure what the root cause could be, but I am working on a revision that addresses a newly discovered issue regarding the placeable weapons that are found around the island. I also have incorporated the island lighting addon from Dewy on the OFDR forum motion forums. I anticipate the release to be some time in the not so distant future so keep your eyes peeled. Thanks for the kind words about the mission too. I appreciate your feedback.
Cheers
Good Mod man! I'm having fun with it.
Love the mod. Is it possible to play this in coop? me and my cousin want to try and play together
It is coop enabled for up to 4 players. A word of warning though. You must have a good ping for coop to work correctly due to the massive amount of processing, but it's definitely fun!
hey
i dont know why but
on my data_win folder there is no mission folder
help!!
Just create a folder named "missions". Then put the folder named "This Is War" inside of the missions folder. To use the hotkeys you must unzip the hotkey app inside of the main game folder. That is the one with ofdr.exe. Before you start the game run the hotkey app as administrator. If you have any troubles just let me know and I'll try to help you out.
Hotkeys don't work!
Did you follow the directions in the above post?
Brilliant mod.....I was trying Island War but find this much better. Is there a manual or faq anywhere. I have a few questions:-)
Does the game automatically save or do you have to do the emergency save(great feature)?
I'm at the airport and haven't found any ammo crates since the beach.....is this correct and are there other ammo/arms stashes out there that I've missed?
Are better AI's already built into the mod?
Not related to the mod.....but I can't fly a helicopter lol
Keep up the great work
Cheers
Tony
I found ammo crates:-)
First of all, thank you and I'm glad you're enjoying it! I'll try to answer your questions in the order received. I have not written up any kind of manual or anything elses of the like. Outside of the hotkey assignments there's not really much else to know other than pay attention to what the display is telling you to do. There is no autosave feature. You must invoke a save using the numpad 0 key and therecannot be an enemy within 200m at the time of the save. The ammo crates at the startup point will supply you with everything available, beyond that you have to scavenge and loot dead bodies. There will be crates here and there, but not a substantial amount. There is no ai mod built into This is War. Keep practicing on that helo!!
Cheers :D
Thanks for the reply:-)
Sadly my "This is War" save game is causing a game crash. Is there a work around or do I have to start the whole campaign again:-(
I think I'm addicted to This is War:-)
T
Is it crashing when trying to save or when loading? The file may have been corrupted some how. You will need to delete the esave file if it was corrupted. Let me know when the crash occurs and I'll post more about removing the save file when I get back to my pc.
Upon further review of your situation, you can do one of two things. If the crash is being caused during the course of the game it is likely a DR problem that I cannot address. There are many issues in the game itself that CM never fixed, but the next release of This is War will contain some possible work arounds to improve the stability of the mission. If it is crashing outright when you try to load your save, try to restart the campaign. If the esave file is not corrupted you will be able to restart the campaign with your progress preserved (ie- all of your points and progress intact). If it still crashes then your esave file was somehow corrupted. If that is the case, go into the data_win/missions/This Is War folder and delete the file with "esave" in the title. This is where your progress/island state is stored. After you delete this file the entire island will be reset and you will have to start from scratch. Hopefully the last solution will not be necessary. If you need a hand letme know and I'll try to help you out.
Cheers :D
Thanks Tvig
I'll give that a go. Would it be prudent to occasionally copy and backup the esave file in case of future crashes. That's probably a silly question:-)
Cheers
Tony
That worked......I started a new campaign using my old save and I still had 44 control points. I started on the beach and hopped into a heli and few over to where I was:-)
I'll back up the esave now just in case
Thanks for the help Tvig
I can not load the esave file.
and I don't know that how to load the esave file.
help!
The esave file will load automatically every time you restart the campaign. It was designed so restore the state of the island in the case that you might have to restart for some reason. As long as you have the esave file in the This is War directory, the mission will look for it when it starts and if it's there, it will load it.
If I restarted the game(OFPDR),is the esave file will loaded?
If you restart the This is War campaign, the esave file is automatically loaded. All of your progress should be updated in the fresh campaign start. I had to do this because the game is known to poop itself after a while and I didn't want people to have to restart the entire island every time DR decides not to cooperate. Let me know if you have any problems and I'll do my best to assist.

I cant get the hotkeys to work... :(
where do I extract the files?
Extract the hotkey file into the main game directory (the one with ofdr.exe). Make sure you run both the game and the hotkey executable as administrator as they both need read/write permissions to the game directory.
This is such a rookie question, but how to you recruit a fire team?
I ran over to them, tried a follow order on them, shot them, I just can't figure this one out... Haha
Use the hotkeys. There are instructions above on this page explaining what key does what.
