It’s had been decided that the movie helmets and armor made little sense for an event before the war of the ring. Also this is the non upgraded model.

I like how they look different from the movie ver and yet pretty Numenorean.

A very bold re-design, and a very good one indeed! I really like it, especially the fact that they predominantly use chain mail, perfectly displaying the early Gondor feel.
