The Waterfowl People 0.3.2
Full Version 1 commentThe Waterfowl People, a Finno-Ugric mod for CK2 version 3.3.2.
The Waterfowl people mod is aimed to fix and add flavour to Finno-Ugric people in vanilla Crusader Kings 2. Mod aims to corporate more perspective or native Finno-Ugrians into the game while not disregarding balance and vanilla game. It allows you to live out dreams of building a boreal empire in the frigid north, play epic historical heroes from the legends of the past and become nostalgic for the time that never came.

Non-western culture mods are always a great addition, especially pagans, seeing as how they're very generic and basically interchangeable after reformation.
Fenno-ugrics and Slavs both made extensive use of the plentiful rivers in the region. It shows the scandinavian bias of paradox that only Germanics have this privilege.
While I understand the historical aspect, I am worried that adding more cultures will impact gameplay. Might not sound like much, but the -10 opinion modifier has always ruined my playthroughs as soon as I went outside of de-jure finland.
In comparison, a region like Rus is almost entirely Russian culture, meaning as soon as you get big enough, you can get them to become your vassals without gifts or relation improvements.
Not sure how hard it would be, but adding an event to create a melting pot "fenno-ugric" culture after you create an empire/unify all de jure kingdoms could fix this.
Thanks for commenting. Creating a melting pot was actually discussed, but in the end, decided to put the idea on the shelf. One workaround of that problem was to make some bloodlines to have +10 opinion modifier for whole Finno-Ugric group or religion. The main thing I aspired to was historic accuracy, that Finnougrians were not historically as united as all Rus tribes. For example, I even thought that for the sake of world balance (and historical accuracy) there should be Erzyans and Mokshans instead of one Mordvin group, but the melting pot idea is to be looked into again for sure.
I really like this, väga hea!
I can not describe how satisfied i am with this mod! PLaying this i am in constant euphoria, for it is so good, that it might be illegal :D
I have not explored this completely, but a little nitpik i would make, is that the Ugandi are justified to also have a claim on Talava, for Talava even today is full of Võrro sacred groves, but i understand that the need for such change is minimal.
I would also be grateful, if you could tell me who is the Mordovian leader with the bloodline at the start of the game? I became interested in that man, but my searches did not give any satisfying results, although i will admit that the search was really a quick peek.
Thank you for this mod, and i hope all the old gods bless you.
Thank you for playing. Tyushten is a Mokshan mythic king/hero, like Estonian Kalevipoeg. Mokshans believed that he conquered territories from Volga to Black sea. More information here:
