8H "Apocalypse" class breakthrough tank feature - The Second Clone Wars mod for Star Wars: Empire at War: Forces of Corruption

With the deployment of the Hammer and TD-100, the Empire managed to even the odds in the battlefield. However, while both were quite capable at taking on enemy armor and light fortifications, they both suffered heavy losses to air attack and heavy fortifications. Initially, it was decided to use a modernized version of the Clone Wars Era AT-AT, but they proved to be highly ineffective against the combined arms tactics used by both RCA and CIS. Furthermore, the relatively weak and exposed legs were easy targets for the big guns of the Orrays and Rail tanks. Those, along their lumbering movement and gigantic ground pressure and massive cost only helped to worsen the situation. Empire needed another solution. Empire himself contacted the talented engineers of Rothana and instructed them to build a tank that is to be Armed, Armored and fearsome as an AT-AT while being easy to built in large numbers cheaply. They were given only eight months to complete this monumental assignment.
The engineers of Rothana worked tirelessly day and night, eating as they worked and sleeping on the workbenches when they required rest. Within two months, they managed to come up with a design of a tank that can deliver all that the Empire asked for.
They designed the tank with an articulated concept featuring two separate compartment. The first compartment was the actual tank, housing the crew, weapon and all other necessary equipment. The second portion was actually an armored fusion reactor, generating power for the entire vehicle. Each part had its own tracks and assorted equipment and was connected with a solid armored block that protected the crew from the reactor. The tank was given thick armor and was armed with two 120mm "Dragon" heavy blaster cannon that could make short work on anything the RCA and CIS could field at that time. Moreover, the tank was also equipped with a 10mm dual ion pulse blaster which could chew through enemy infantry and wreak havoc on the electronics of enemy armor and aircraft. This was fatal for the latter as the cannon disabled its engines and anti-grav drive, causing it to crash. The tank was also surprisingly fast for its size, mainly thanks to its fusion engine. It took four months to prefect the design, leading the Empire to capture the families of the engineers' and issue a warning to them that if the tank is not ready for a demonstration soon, their family's will be executed as traitors. However, Rothana managed to equip a battalion with their new tanks for a demonstration against a CIS occupation force before the deadline. During it demonstration, the battalion wiped out and an entire CIS armored division along with their base, basically leveling anything they came across. The Empire, pleased with the results, ordered the family's to be released and declared the tank to be the "Apocalypse" for the enemy's of the empire.
The tank was soon entered service as the 8H "Apocalypse" class breakthrough tank and was soon causing havoc on the enemy this led to both CIS and RCA to create their own version of the Apocalypse, which soon begun to make their own appearance on the battlefield.
