In The Rising, there is no place to hide, there is no escape, and you will not be rescued. The only hope available for mankind will come from your determination and resilience. The time of avoidance and submission are over. The only option is to resist.

This video was originally created as an example for my coder but I thought i'd share it.

The default Geiger counter in HL2 is being retrofitted with new sounds and the ability to detect Necrotrophs. The detection beats were arranged to mimic human heart beating. This was done in the hopes that it would subconsciously trick your heart into following it's pattern.

It's an interesting idea, but I'd imagine it would get very annoying very quick.

Possibly. But you are definitely going to be glad you have it when you hear monsters stalking you in the background. Paying attention to your detector is going to mean the difference between life and death.

If a monter is close enough to make it beep, you arn't worried about how annoying it is.

i think it would get annoying - maybe if the ticks were a bit smoother. they're rather, sharp, and the patterns for closer detections are annoying.
remember, audio is half of the whole experience in a game or movie!

I like it. Sounds kinda like the equipment is old or makeshift and definitely fits in nicely with the rugged survivor feel :)

That'd bug the **** outta me if I had to listen to the far onward for more than a minute. is it only played with the counter is selected or a constant effect?

Not a good idea. It's very annoying and too repetitive. That's not how geiger counters work.

The Geiger would fit in best as a idem that you can pick up and drop, since i think it would ruin the atmosphere sometimes.

its a good idea but it ruins the atmosphere youve created. I think you should make it the players actual heart beat instead. The closer the necro is the more excited the player gets

Will we be allowed to modify the sounds ourselves after release? No offence to your work, I meant as in could we change it ourselves to be whatever sound we wanted, like with other Sourcemods.

*Beeping* aw **** time to run *Beeps faster* OH GOD *Geiger beeps to indicate very close* **** AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!! this is a pretty old video so idk if you did something to keep the Geiger from getting annoying, but maybe add an on off feature. (so people dont end up getting tired of the noise.)
