I shall keep this one short and sweet. Beta testing continues, with many, MANY bugs being crushed with an iron fist of doom. Voice acting is going amazingly, with just a couple hundred player character lines to go, out of more than 3500!) This week we'd like to share a new voice acting video (featuring Jeremiah Costello and Rina-chan) as well as some quotes from our Beta testers on their thoughts about TNM. First, the video:
And here are some quotes from the Beta testers!
"I've got nothing but good things to say about it. It worked its way into my dreams the night after my first taste of it. As with any good thing I wish there was more of it (why I can't just forget about DD and work as a bouncer in Sol's for the rest of my life?) but that would remain true no matter how much there was to do."
-Chris the Cynic
"Overall the world of TNM seems very consistent to me, which is, for a game of this size and such a long development time, a major achievement indeed. Finishing a mod of this epic proportions is simply legendary no matter if it sucks or not. TNM doesn't suck, it shines as the best mod I have ever had the honour to play."
-Fox
"Its funny, huge, good fun, well written. Little bit too much walking around but probably the best mod on DX by a long way."
-Daniel
"Personally, I feel that TNM on its own rivals the game it modifies. This is one of those rare mods that goes far beyond the definition of a 'mod'.. It's one of the best gaming experiences I've had in a long time. ^_^"
-Jim
"The mod's giving me... that sense of wonder that I get from a new game that I'm gonna get engrossed in for a long time. The whole "Deus Ex, but not" thing, with the mod being based on familiar territory but so completely new... I honestly think it works out."
-JeredCain
Nice work guys.. the acting is better than most commercial games... good to see the responses from the beta testers as well, as it gives an honest assessment of the mod from their perspective... keep up the great work and get those 3500 lines done.. lol
Thanks :)
The ca. 3500 lines is the total amount of lines for just the player character, btw. We've almost recorded all of them, and hopefully we'll finish it next week. We still have some NPC lines left though.
Can't wait, going to be epic.
Spotted a bug in your video, hope your testers did, too.
The guard walking past the couple is holding a gun. Watch as the far LOD model/skin (black/grey in colour) swaps in for a bright blue near LOD model/texture, just before the guard goes off-screen.
I'm guessing you've made a custom model for the close-up LOD but haven't yet made or implemented the lower-poly version.

Voice acting is pretty good. The video is way too dark to show off the grachics, though. You may as well have used an audio clip because I can barely see the characters' faces.
Looking forward to this (have been for some time!).
