First I need to explain something. There were some worries after the last news about TFP and our team "stealing the SMOD:T content and fame". I think this misunderstanding occured because of my bad english and I'm very sorry for that. The final TFP Mod will NOT include ANY files of SMOD:T. TFP will be an ADDON to SMOD:T, not an own HL2 Mod which just includes the SMOD:T files. Because of TFP's features, it will be ideal for players who would like to experience the SMOD:T gameplay in a new storyline and lots of new maps. I think TFP has lots of potential, because players have been playing through the old HL2 Campaign over and over since 2004, which is getting boring with the time.

Anyway, this news would be boring without any new content! With by 19th birthday yesterday and the 19th birthday of our Teammember Pinatz today (who is creating our online presence and is helping me a lot with the mod through playtesting), we thought it would be nice to make YOU guys a present! First, We have a new wallpaper for you:

In addition I recorded about 1:30 minutes of the menubackgroundmap's panoramic camera drive and added the menubackground song of the interpreter "Chaos Theory", who is creating the TFP soundtrack for us and is doing an absolutely awesome job with it!

I am looking foreward to some more things we can show you in a maybe couple of weeks, so stay tuned! Regards, Xoftware Studios

I didn't approve of you using SMOD:T as a base.
Please do not continue with your mod

Wow, I can see wanting permission, but what a **** move, man.

While they should have at least approached you in some way, what's it going to do? You already get recognition for your creation, and the fact that someone is using yours as a base is proof. Just as Valve lets people use their engine (which SMOD:T is based on, of course) what's your beef?

You can't really claim rights to the SMOD: Tactical code, what with the whole engine being legally owned by Valve and all that. Plus, how does it hurt YOU that they use your code (which is proof that they believe your code is GOOD, since they use yours instead of any other) to improve their mod and achieve their goals? If they didn't use your mod as a base, they would just have to re-code the entire thing by themselves, which is pointless since that's called re-inventing the wheel. The end result would probably be the same anyways, so this way they just end up saving a lot of work to achieve the exact result they wanted.

You already built an awesome, top-of-the-line tactical gameplay system with SMOD: Tactical, with gameplay realism that next-gen games have a hard time equaling, let alone outclassing. Why do you want to restrict that goodness only to one single mod, instead of allowing it to be spread out a little bit? The ideal solution here would be coming to an arrangement with the developers of this mod so that they can use your code while giving you credits, and you get to have a spot as a quality consultant so you can make sure they don't turn your mod into something ridiculously ugly and can also see the ideas they have for improving it so you can implement them in your own mod if you want to.

I thank you for your statement, which is absolutely the same I
(and with me my Team) have.
We build this mod not to steal any of phatcats, onemanshows or
somebody elses fame.

Plus, I think its only a big disaccord. The fright project will,
to make this clear, not use SMODT as the base in a way that I will
re-publish the code together with my mod files.
TFP will be an addon TO smod:t.

You (Phatcat) yourself told me over MSN a half year ago that you
are looking for maps, and that there will be no problem to
publish TFP over the HPC system. The last time I talked to you
(about 3 weeks ago over MSN), you told me that you are not the
project leader of smod:t anymore and that you did not even remember
that we even talked bevore.

I think that TFP is able to massively push the pobularity
of SMOD:T foreward, if published as an addon, which I planned.
With launching TFP, our team is doing you guys a Favor, because,
to be honest, everyone gets tired playing the old HL2 campain,
even with SMOD:T, over and over.

I think that TFP is also a chance for you to get (even more) fame,
so please tell my why you are bothering a team that is going to
bring you fame for free?
