There's one big problem with using these in stalker, The only npc affected is you, Other npc's can still see you like the smoke/tear gas isn't there.
That is unless that isn't how your doing them. If not it'll be great to see as no-ones managed to solve the problem up till now.

This feature take advantage of a little problem in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. files: is that AI identify an harmless grenade, like this one, like a "real" one, so puts the NPCs to run away promptly after you throw it near them. This is not for defend yourself, nor for starting a fight, but for an offensive maneuver, improving even the vantage of knowing the places (i.e flank ways, etc.). Of course I can code a smoke grenade that make a fighting NPC to break visual contact, and so stop shooting, but this is not my real effort for this.

My mistake sorry, I thought that you were planning on using the smoke grenade as a base, Don't forget that most Stalkers should also be using Gas masks, If your up to doing the coding it'd be great if you could get it so that different npc's act differently, Those in close breathing outfits like Seva's and gas mask wearers ignore them but those in Steel helmets and hoodies etc run for the hill's.
