Description

Revived concept from the cancelled Quake 4 expansion.

The SMC bomber is to be dubbed "VC-11" as that would be next in sequence from the "VC-8" (number markings wanted to stay real when mirrored on old models and the VC-8 marking is present on the Quake 4 drop ship).

As the VC-8 really didn't like Strogg harvesters (the slow speed of VC-8s when landing troops and cargo exposes them to autocannon fire in the worst ways), it will welcome this supporting aircraft. Despite a similar size and appearance, the VC-11 will not have the air lift capabilities of the VC-8 but it can take a lot more fire, reducing Marine air losses over Stroggos. It is also modified for an increased bomb load and its autocannons use explosive-tipped ammo. This was done in the belief it would aid against elusive targets like Strogg heavy infantry and harvesters on the ground, but whether they are any better at striking harvesters than the normal strike fighters is unclear. One thing is clear: these birds won't go down as easily as other bombers used by the Corps over Stroggos.
